I just published my converastion w/ @mariepoulin

Watching her videos on @NotionHQ was what initially introduced me to the potential of Notion in managing projects.

Recounting her journey of building a business helping others manage their life & business in Notion

A Thread 👇

1/

Marie had come across Notion a couple of times, but it didn't stick until she worked on her permaculture certificate and needed a gallery.

Lesson: A project is the best way to learn Notion, just like a project is the best way to learn how to code.

2/

@mariepoulin realized that if people just took all their information from Asana or Evernote and pasted it into Notion, nothing would change.

You would have the same system. To be more productive, you need to build workflows.

Lesson: Evaluate and improve your systems

3/

Marie used to struggled doing Daily Journals.

With Notion, she built a visually aesthetic template that she looked forward to filling out everyday.

Lesson: Design your environment, add a reward to get you to complete a task.

4/

Marie soon found that Daily Journals helped her complete her Weekly Reviews.

The reviews were a forcing function to reflect on her journals to look for patterns and trends.

Lesson: Always analyze and reflect on your goals.

5/

Currently, Marie has over 17,000 subscribers on Youtube.

Last year, she had ~78 and was still getting over the discomfort of posting online.

She hired a speaking coach and committed to a 30 day video challenge.

Lesson: Invest in yourself

6/

Marie would also host Notion Office Hours, where different guests would come on to show their Notion setups and templates.

Marie was able to takeaway lessons from each guest to improve her own setup.

Her Notion videos on YT were also blowing up.

7/

Working as a freelance web designer, Marie often ended up taking on too many tasks.

She would function as marketer, designer, coder and learned a ton of skills along the way.

She began to become interested in the field of online courses.

8/

She even worked with her husband to create an online course platform at one point.

After seeing the response that her Notion content was getting on Youtube, she realized people needed guidance on the app.

Notion Mastery was born.

9/

For the past year, Marie has been coaching individuals and businesses on how to use Notion to improve their lives.

She noticed a bunch of central lessons and teachings that would be invaluable to share in a course.

10/

Notion Mastery addresses the earlier problem where people import all the information in Notion and expect it to work.

They do not know where to start to harness the power of Notion.

You can watch videos and download templates, but how can you take action?

11/

Notion Mastery teaches you how to centralize all the different apps you have in your life.

Consolidating:
- Asana
- Evernote
- G-Suite
- Trello
- Airtable
- Todoist
- Dropbox Paper

12/

@ivanhzhao, the CEO of Notion, said that Marie was:

"both a world-class expert and an exceptional teacher who has helped hundreds of people unlock organization and productivity with Notion. She makes things possible with this product that are even beyond my imagination.”

13/

The course helps you:

- Start off w/ a set of templates
- Design a custom workspace for you
- Build systems that last to help you plan and run your business/personal life
- Improve resource/knowledge management and note-taking
