In an act of pure masochism, I watched Showtime’s The Comey Rule.
It was a piece of Resistance kitsch wrapped in trashy Cold War propaganda, adapted from an FBI agent’s script, and full of factual errors, lies and omissions designed to make liberals even dumber than they are.
Here’s a scene from The Comey Rule that never took place: Two accused Russian SVR agents become Internet Research Agency operatives and destroy Hillary’s campaign via Twitter and Facebook. It’s completely made-up, but presented as a factual re-enactment.
There was no evidence Internet Research Agency ads had any impact on the 2016 election anyway. According to Facebook, 56% of them appeared after the election and most did not relate to the candidates.
Here’s Flynn and Putin in Moscow having a conversation that never took place, and which is ultimately spun by the filmmakers to libel Jill Stein and Julian Assange as Russian assets. (Assange is currently facing 175 yrs in jail for the crime of doing journalism).
An attempt at recreating @GeorgePapa19’s non-chance meeting with Alexander Downer. No context on Downer’s friendship w/MI6 former director Richard Dearlove, his work at private spy firm Hakluyt, or similar mtg in which CIA/FBI asset Stefan Halper attempted to entrap Papadopolous.
The affair between Pete Strzok & Lisa Page that she allegedly lied to Bill Priestap about. The two are portrayed as Resistance heroes who defended the rule of law as they drove the Russiagate-Crossfire Hurricane investigation & their texts went mysteriously missing.
The meeting in Trump Tower with Don Jr and Veselnitskaya. Viewers are led to believe here that the Russian lawyer indulged the Trump campaign’s request for dirt on Hillary. In fact, her exclusive interest in relaxing Magnitsky sanctions led Don Jr and company to end the meeting.
The Comey Rule treatment of the Steele Dossier features a dramatization of its most lurid claim about the Trump “pee tape” & kompromat. The dossier became a liability for media that played it up & for the Hillary campaign, but viewers are led to believe it was basically credible.
As election night nears, the two non-existent Russian chaos agents meet at DC’s WWII memorial to celebrate the imminent victory of Trump. A comically cheesy scene that never took place in a film marketed as a fact-based dramatization of real events.
Flynn’s call with Russian Amb. Kislyak. The call related to a vote on Israeli settlements at the UN and cooperation on the Syrian peace process. There is even a public transcript of the call (thanks to NSA wiretapping) to show this absurd dialogue never took place.
The Comey Rule ends with this message instilling in viewers the sense that, yes, Russia was responsible for the 2016 results and they are doing it again! Neocon FBI copaganda mainlined Clockwork Orange style into disoriented lib brains.
