Journalist Ali Peter John Shares an Unheard Incident about #SuperStar @rajinikanth
We had an Award function in Chennai where we were going to present awards to the best in the four languages from the South
The owner of Indian Express, Vivek Goenka wanted "Dev Sahab" to be the chief guest
We reached Chennai and there were people in high places from my company waiting to welcome him We were put up at the Taj Coromandel The news about landing in Chennai and living at the Taj had spread all over
There was a big clamour among all the big names of the Tamil film industry to have a darshan of Dev Sahab and he had given me the permission to take a decision on who he should meet Kamal Haasan was the first to call and Dev asked him to come over as soon as possible
Kamal arrived within minutes and they had a long talk Dev had an idea of making a film with Kamal and Kamal had no other way but to say of course ,we must Mr Anand (Kamal was the first man I heard calling Dev' Mr Anand'
The next man I had to say yes to, even without asking Dev Sahab, was #Rajini
He landed at the Taj in a Fiat
He literally ran up the stairs and reached my suite first and I led him to Dev Saheb and took him by surprise
#Rajini touched #Dev Sahab‘s feet and then sat at his feet and refused to sit in a chair
I don't know what they exactly spoke about but when #Rajinikanth came out, he had tears in his eyes and he kept saying 'thank you' to me
The award function was to be held the same evening
There was a massive crowd, but the crowd was not so enthusiastic about Dev Sahab, But suddenly there was a Commotion in the crowd
'#Thalaiva' had reached the ground without any invitation
Rajini gave the crowd a big surprise
when he landed at the place in his Fiat
He ran up to the stage where Dev Sahab was already sitting and again fell at the feet of Dev Sahab and the crowd went crazy
Dev couldn't believe how their 'God' could fall at the feet of a star from Mumbai
Rajinikanth gave them kind of intro He called him the Dev of Indian cinema and said he was not even a speck of sand before Dev Sahab and the audience was silent and most of them had tears running down their cheek
