Ten more Iowans have died from COVID-19, pushing Iowa's total to 1,377 since first death on March 24.

That's up 19 over two days in October.

Deaths were reported in Delaware, Dickinson, Dubuque, Johnson, Plymouth, Polk (4) and Pottawattamie Counties.

#IowaMourns

In addition to the 10 deaths, Iowa reports hospitalizations for COVID-19 are back up to 402, including 100 in intensive care and 38 on ventilators.

There were 58 new admissions to Iowa hospitals in the last 24-hour reporting period.

Wrong direction!

Between 10 am Oct. 2 and 10 am Oct. 3, there were 1,107 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, pushing Iowa's total to 91,861.

That's the 4th day in a row over 1,000 new confirmed cases.

Wrong direction!

The 1,107 new cases were confirmed on 6,159 reported tests (up from 810,551 to 816,710). Dividing new cases by reported tests is 18.0%.

Subtracting deaths (1,377) and "recoveries" (71,301), there are 18,967 active cases of coronavirus in Iowa - one out of every 165 Iowans!

Because of other commitments, I am not able to provide the county-by-county data until later today.

Please mourn the dead, support loved ones and caregivers, and help stop the spread of this deadly infectious disease.

This is a public health emergency. Please act like it.
