the dude behind the Metal Slug 6 Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion said it was a simple process but I didn't think people would adapt to it this quickly—Samsho 6, KOFXI and Neogeo Battle Coliseum have all been converted and I'm sure Neowave's in the pipe dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewforu…

for the unfamiliar, here's the Atomiswave library en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomiswave there are a few sought-after games that were never ported, like The Rumble Fish 2 and Dolphin Blue, as well as games like ArcSys Hokuto no Ken for which the official home ports aren't really adequate

update: .CDI images for these conversions have started appearing, ie they're no longer exclusive to those with ODEs & can be played via CD-R (with unavoidable load times), but they're definitely not foolproof so hold off if you don't want to have to re-burn half a dozen times

one of the more annoying limitations is that the operator settings and other features like button layout are pre-determined by whoever's making the hack & can't be modified in-game by the user, so you have to hope they haven't stuck you with a silly button config or whatever

Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast update: Knights of Valour: The Seven Spirits, a Sangokushi-themed brawler by Taiwanese dev IGS—they made a bunch of these for their own arcade boards, as well as a recent 3D version for PS4, & this is the one arcade outlier dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

(in case those sprites give off a familiar vibe: IGS also made the fighting games Martial Masters, Killing Blade & Spectral vs Generation, as well as the run-and-gun Demon Front & the licensed Dodonpachi sequel, Bee Storm)

more WIP Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast hacks

Maximum Speed (low-budget intl-only SIMS/Sammy racing game)

Dolphin Blue (SNK-Playmore's nautical run-and-gun by several former OG Metal Slug devs)

Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast update: The King of Fighters Neowave! dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

this game's essentially a slapdash 02 rehash but I do appreciate it for bringing back Art of Fighting Geese as the boss for no particular reason

another Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion: Dimps' 3D brawler Demolish Fist dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi… this snuck ahead of Dolphin Blue to become the first Atomiswave release... it's no Dynamite Deka, but what is

the one Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion that really matters is upon us: HOKUTO NO KEN dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

the latest Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion: The Rumble Fish dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

for the unfamiliar, The Rumble Fish was an original fighting game series by Dimps—this first one came to PS2 but the sequel still hasn't been ported, so that's the one ppl are waiting for

most people would remember them for their very distinctive super tween-y animation, which was novel at the time

Dimps bought back the rights to The Rumble Fish several years ago—all they've done with it so far is port the sequel to Nesica, afaik

the latest Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion: Guilty Gear X 1.5 dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

this was an odd release, it came out after GGXX and most of the changes for the revision were to make the characters play more like their XX versions, I kinda wonder who it was for

it was only a matter of time: here's the Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion of the arcade-only The Rumble Fish 2 dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

this isn't an especially well-balanced game & Dimps made a lot of changes for the Nesica version, so I hope they can port that someday

here's some recent-ish Rumble Fish 2 tournament footage from one of the game centers still holding it down, Nakano TRF

the latest (not-quite-perfect) Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion: Guilty Gear Isuka dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi… this game used the data card to save points & unlock EX characters and so on but idk how, if at all, that's been addressed for the conversion

fwiw I never reviled Isuka the way a lot of people seemed to when it was new... have people come around on it or do people still bristle at the mere mention? after GG2, Dust Strikers, etc I'd like to think it doesn't even register but ppl like to hold grudges

this newest Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion is quite obscure: Toretore !Sushi / Sushi Bar, Sammy's unreleased sushi-themed falling-block puzzle game dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi… this game would've been released in '03 but never made it to market & wasn't publicly dumped until '17

...and here it is in action

another overseas-only Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversion: Dirty Pigskin Football dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

I've never played this one but I've definitely seen the silly football-stick cabinet somewhere... as you might expect, it seems fairly Blitz-y

another overseas-only Atomiswave conversion for Dreamcast: Ranger Mission dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

this one's a lightgun game and as such, you need a lightgun to play it, and even then it seems to be a little finicky

a couple more deep-cut Atomiswave-to-Dreamcast conversions:

KENJU, an unreleased fighting game by DreamFactory dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

Force Five, another unreleased fighting game by Anchor which was later sold & retooled as the NAOMI game Jingi Storm dreamcast-talk.com/forum/viewtopi…

for the unaware, DreamFactory made Tobal, Ergheiz, etc; there was a point where many of their core staff (many of whom came from Sega and/or Namco) quit & their games took a massive nosedive, KENJU being an early example

Anchor was helmed by DreamFactory defectors, as it happens

aside from being retooled into Jingi Storm (a strip-fighting game that eventually launched as a plain ol fighting game), Force Five is also notable for being the only game in which Anchor's OC Del Sol would've been featured as a true main character, and not just a guest/cameo

here's Del Sol, as he appeared in the Anchor-dev'd Dreamcast port of Fighting Vipers 2

his mask also appears in the create-a-character suite for an Anchor-developed WWF game, and he's appeared in a few test demos and other things, but he seems to have died with Force Five
