The CPC, and their enabling press & surrogates, wish us to believe they haven't behaved like Trump's GOP. That they haven't copies Trump tactics, to try to get it to work in Canada as well.

2/
Here's a screenshot I made of a quote-tweet from just after the CPC leadership win, that indicates otherwise

3/
related to screenshot in tweet 2/

4/
during the day of the election, for CPC leader, I made a screenshot of CBC PnP's coverage - when the second ballot count had just been announced. Note that before the third ballot, Leslyn Lewis had the highest percentage of votes. You know who Dr Lewis' followers are? M*GA

5/
The CPC are also connected to the CCFR - NRA North

6/
An example, early on - August 27, when Erin O'Toole promised to 'Fight' for Canadians. Where else have we heard 'fight'? Think of Trump & Cruz, when they were whipping up the crowds on Jan 6, before they mobbed the halls of Congress

7/
Here is Charles Adler, responding to CPC MP Findlay regarding her post where she shared a conspiracy site & asked us to beware of Finance Minister Freeland. Btw, Findlay never apologized to Freeland

8/
Also, regarding tweet 7/, CPC leader O'Toole never penalized her for this. When asked by reporters for his comment, he hid behind his office staff & had them respond. Their statement was that MP Findlay deleted the tweet. That's it!

9/
Another response, this time from @Ottawa_Cameron, also related to MP Findlay's dog whistling - something that Trump & the GOP do

10/
Press, like Postmedia's Lorrie Goldstein, are mouthpieces for the CPC. He comes to their rescue, when they're under fire from Cdns. They have not disavowed some of his Trump-like rhetoric. Here's a sample of his type of rhetoric

11/
as far as I'm concerned, as long as the writers that support the CPC have a reputation for using similar tactics as Trump & the GOP, the CPC should not be using them to further their message(s) - if they wish Cdns to believe they're not Trump-lite

12/
related to tweets 10 and 11

13/
these are their comms people - whether by association through Postmedia, or as press secretaries for conservative politicians - in this case Matt Wolf is provincial, but the Alberta UCP often share the same material with the CPC

14/
Here is a screenshot I made of two consecutive tweets from @Justin_Ling, when he was reporting on outgoing CPC leader Scheer's farewell speech. Read this, and ask if what Scheer said, isn't something Trump or Sen Cruz would say

15/
Mr O'Toole thinks the "Liberal brand" is: Climate Change, Indigenous Reconciliation, & Gender. In other words, he doesn't think these are files of interest to all Canadians. I beg to differ. The only ones who don't think these are important, are his type of conservative

16/
btw, regarding tweet 15/ - the CPC leader never did answer my question. Also, I ask you to consider - is climate change, indigenous reconciliation & gender, also slammed by Trump and the GOP? Consider how 45 et al. have treated these topics. Parallels?

17/
the CPC have used the RCAF as a form of branding. Please check my pinned tweet-thread for more on this topic. Trump has also surrounded himself with law & order types & made a big deal about Space Force & so on. Both CPC & 45 use military, and similar orgs, as brand

18/
I also see a parallel between 45 and his focus on industries that are transitioning out as well as primarily staffed by males, and the same focus from the CPC. My screenshot doesn't show the date, but the file date is Sept. 23, 2020

19/
the CPC want us to think they're more honest than Trump. Yet it was dishonest of them to post a video that they added words to the post, supposedly said by PM Trudeau, but you can play the video they shared & the message is different than their claim

20/
the CPC's use of terminology like "wealthy, elite & insider friends" sounds like Trump at one of his rallies, IMHO. This push by Mr O'Toole (and Scheer before him), to come across like the humble person raised in a modest background, is disingenuous
(file date Oct 5, 2020)

21/
Like Trump, Erin O'Toole talks about standing up to China. He doesn't suggest how, or consider the consequences of any action. Unrealistic & simplistic 'tough talk' (IMHO). Also, ironic, considering his party's history with FIPA trade deal under Harper

22/
Re tweet 20/ here's an example of Erin O'Toole trying to be just a regular guy, similar to the type of rhetoric Trump used. Not completely honest, IMHO. After all, he makes it seem like his dad worked on the assembly line, yet was actually an executive - for two decades.

23/
Please look at this screenshot and ask yourself: is this an American GOP message, or a Canadian one? (file date Nov 24, 2020), 'Freedom of Speech'

24/
and then there's this

25/
Dishonest, like Trump. Playing games with words to imply one thing, when in fact it's another thing. If CPC wish us to think they're not like Trump, they need to be more honest, play less games

26/
another example of dishonesty, as noted Trump is dishonest - do we want this in our Cdn pols? It's one thing to use political spin, but Mr O'Toole is proving to be as misleading with his posts on this platform, as his predecessor (h/t @Swift01_2000)

27/
Then there's this. Also consider the Trump admin's record with American indigenous communities during his time in office. Both Trump & O'Toole share the same bad worldview w/r/t indigenous peoples (IMHO)

I could go on, do have more material, but I think I've made my point.

28/
adding this tweet by @Swift01_2000 - into the main thread, so that it doesn't get moved down by responses

*copied Trump's tactics (not 'copies Trump') - sorry for the typos in my initial tweet

29/
@jessica_pomps reminded me about when the CPC claimed the federal Liberals were planning to rig the next election. Very Trumpian. They had to delete their statements they'd made on their website & as part of their fundraising, but here's a screenshot (h/t @MJosling53)

30/
adding a link to the archived site (h/t @KarenSloan)
Also, while on the site, I made another screenshot

(tech note, image on right scrolls dn as you scroll text on left. I made sep screenshot of lower text & stitched to top screenshot of entire page, to show everything)

31/
Re tweet 5/ CPC's connection w CCFR & their rhetoric mimicking GOP's relationship w NRA & similar goals = another connection between CPC & GOP: I have more info on prev CPC leader Scheer's comments - but chose to concentrate on since Erin O'Toole took over late Aug 2020

32/
regarding tweet 13/ (Lorrie Goldstein and Matt Wolf) where I mention communications being shared by CPC and UCP, via Postmedia and press secretaries, and similar. This tweet is relevant, IMO

33/
regarding tweet 19/ - Sept 24, 2020, EO'T posts clip of PM Trudeau speaking in HoC, speeds the film, adds words, & removes important context - if you wish to watch the video & read the comments, try searching: erin o'toole national unity crisis

34/
adding ref to CPC leader's post exposing his ignorance about rights & vulnerability of prisoners. His lack of understanding science behind COVID-19 spread, as well as ignoring responsibilities for caretaking those more vulnerable in our society, is very Trumpian (IMHO)

(note, there are some good articles linked in the responses to Erin O'Toole's Jan 5, 2021 prison tweet. I encourage you to look it up and read the responses. I prefer not linking to his acct directly, in this thread. Thanks)

35/
regarding tweets 7, 8 and 9/
I should have included a screenshot of MP Kerry-Lynne Findlay's original Aug. 29, 2020 tweet, that I reference her deleting - without censure from the CPC leader. Note he's tagged on her original tweet, yet didn't take any action?

36/
Re tweet 27/ CPC leader telling stu grp residential schools created to "try & provide education" = O'Toole & Trump same worldview of indigenous peoples: while that was worst part of the story, O'Toole also said at same time "lefty radicals" & "woke crowd" = Trumpy language

(note, h/t to @bcmaguire, for pointing out the parallels between GOP and CPC regarding use of certain language. This is what prompted me to add tweet 36/)

re tweet 21/ tough talk 'stand up to China' - w no specific suggestions how, nor acknowledgment there'd be consequences - I see that my screenshot doesn't include a date, just that I made it an hour after he posted it. The date is Oct 8, 2020

Regarding tweet 17/
I ask that you check out my pinned tweet about the CPC leader using his time in the military to rebrand the CPC. Note, it is no longer my pinned tweet, rather, this thread is. Here is the thread I'm referencing in 17/

37/
adding this separate post, which I think belongs here, regarding fed CPC and Alberta UCP connections w each other and w Trumpism. (h/t @sunnshiiny)

38/
CPC used 'Trumpian' tactics this morning, w a statement on vaccines, claiming Pfizer vaccine was "in jeopardy" (it's not) = unnecessarily scare-mongering Cdns who are worried rn. The CPC, rather than being #TeamCanada, are politicizing the vaccine rollout

(h/t @journo_dale for drawing my attention to their use of "jeopardy" in their statement)

39/
adding screenshot of my quote-tweet, of U.S. GOP Rep Boebert, noting she uses same 'woke left' lang. as Canada's CPC (official opposition) leader's comments to students (falsely) claiming residential schools were for education.
Also see tweets 27 & 36 in this thread.

40/
relevant to tweet 34/E O'Toole's Jan 5 disgraceful tweet claiming fed prisoners not vulnerable & should be vaccinated later: today (Feb 6/21) CBC reporting nearly 100 inmates infected w COVID19. Adding combined screenshots of @lisakirbie's tweet & article she's quote-tweeting

@threadreaderapp - please unroll my thread. Thanks!

(not sure if this Apr 19 tweet will appear directly below 29/, fingers crossed 🤞)
- please pick on tweet 29/ (above) to expand the second half of this thread - which actually continue to 44/

(Twitter prob controlling how much loads at one time, for speed)

@threadreaderapp please unroll, thanks
