(Thread: 1/6) It has been one year since the current International Development Committee was appointed.

We want to thank everyone who has contributed to our work undertaking vital scrutiny of #UKaid. @SarahChampionMP

(2/6) Over the year we have:
- Published 277 pieces of written evidence and 60 items of correspondence.
- Held 32 oral evidence sessions with at least 45 witnesses speaking to us from outside of the UK.
- Published 8 reports across the main IDC and Sub-Committee.

(3/6) In our inquiry into the effectiveness of #UKaid we emphasised the importance of keeping poverty reduction as a key pillar of the UK’s aid strategy. We urge the Government to consider this when it publishes its new international development strategy.

(4/6) Throughout the year we have examined the appalling impact of the #COVID19 pandemic on developing countries.

We have called on the UK Government to cancel the debt owed by these countries to allow them to focus on their recovery.

(5/6) In our inquiry into sexual exploitation and abuse in the aid sector we heard horrifying evidence of abuse taking place with impunity.

We welcome the recent government announcement of new support for survivors and we will continue to press for justice for survivors.

(6/6) @icai_uk continues to undertake independent scrutiny of #UKaid, ensuring it is spent effectively and delivers value for taxpayers.

This year, the Sub-Committee has built on this work, holding government departments to account for their responses to ICAI’s reviews.
