DISGUSTED beyond words. A 65 year old Asian lady brutally kicked and beaten in broad daylight in Manhattan. Worse—3 bystanders did nothing!! Even more worse—the security guard closed the door to ignore it!! She is still hospitalized with fractured pelvis.
2) it’s so scary for Asian Americans right now that @AndrewYang is advising no Asians walk outside alone—only go out in pairs. #StopAsianHate

3) “Reports of anti-Asian hate crimes have risen sharply during the pandemic, often triggered by people falsely blaming Asian-Americans for spreading the coronavirus, according to police departments across the country.
4) “The problem is particularly pressing in New York City, which saw the sharpest increase last year in reported anti-Asian hate crimes of any major city, according to an analysis of police data by a center at the California State University, San Bernardino.
5) “Across the country, most of the anti-Asian attacks documented over the past year took place inside stores or on public streets, and bystanders rarely intervened, according to Cynthia Choi, @cynthiachoi1 the co-founder of Stop AAPI Hate. #StopAsianHate
6) Dear internet - please find this man.
7) While not physically attacked, when I grew up as an immigrant child, I had gotten many ugly comments:
📌Do you eat dog?
📌Shut up, pan/moon face.
📌Go do some math, chink.
📌The worst: “I can’t goto the movies with you, because you’re going to burn in hell”
#StopAsianHate
8) p.s. For the “do you eat dog” question, I would try to be funny and reply, “Yes, I eat hot dog 🌭 just like you.”
9) Regarding “you’re going to burn in hell” comment, the full longer version—
“We can’t goto the movies because my mom says I can’t date you, because she says I can’t marry you, because you’re going to burn in hell”.
And it was from a supposed friend. That made it hurt more.
10) I was always hoping our children won’t have to grow up in such a sick cruel world. But seeing the racism & vitriol the last few years, I’m concerned.
But I have hope because I believe the society we have is result of the society that we strive for, fight for, & vote for!
11) THIS THIS THIS below.
side story: non-Asian vegan foodies love the dish known in Chinese as “stinky tofu” if you don’t tell them it’s called “stinky tofu” in Chinese beforehand.
12) the history of anti Asian racism runs deep. Even intersecting the events of the Titanic.
