Good evening! I’m on the ground in Westwood, near UCLA covering the area during and after the Bruins facing Gonzaga in the Final Four Men’s Basketball Game.
Streets are very quiet right now.
Some LAPD cruisers circling the area with four to a car.
At least one horse mounted unit staged nearby. I asked a few of the LAPD officers if the response unit today was big, and he replied “we are ready,” while nodding his head.
One of the horse mounted units was talking to two kids and a father
Not long after, a different LAPD unit takes an unmasked break on Westwood Blvd.
UCLA fans are upset at a non-call by the referees while horse mounted police walk by.
Where’s @ChuckModi1 to break this down when you need him.
Walking past some fraternities now. One banner states “Gonzaga Tosses Low” while a viewing party commences
Another states “bulldogs do doggy cuz your girlfriends are ugly”
Checking the Greek areas. One sign says “Gonzaga Tosses Low”
Another Greek sign: “Bulldogs do doggy cuz their girlfriends are ugly”
Another sign: looks like LAPD is staging outside this building. “Zags Pee Sitting Down.”
As the game goes into overtime, several students ran outside to give “juju fingers” to the reporters nearby.
Things super quiet after the overtime loss. LAPD readying less lethal munitions.
Students yelling “f* Gonzaga” while there growing some wooden chairs into a bonfire.
One chair was added to the fire before LAFD showed up a few minutes after the game ended with a Bruins loss.
Two arrested by my count due to the bonfire.
Party goers singing in the streets in the Westwood, singing.
Crowd began marching through the streets Roebling.
Crowd marched around the Roebling area, ran into another police line. The crowd began singing Seven Nation Army and headed back, slowly dispersing.
