I’m OTG at the UCLA Gaza Solodarity Encampment. A large group of pro-Israel demonstrators are around. One person from the encampment looks very hurt. Hundreds throughout the area. Reports of fireworks being thrown towards the encampment. Seeing a plume of smoke (looks like just firework smoke for now) coming from near the encampment.

These are all members (or at least consistently around) the Brown Beret National Party in LA. *Not to be confused with the Aztlaneca Brown Berets in LA* (More on the difference between the two a bit later but it’s very important to understand that they are not the same group)

Here’s info from UC-Davis on whether or not fentanyl can be absorbed via the skin.

(UC-Davis says no. No it can’t.)

And according to UC-Davis studies it’s contributing to officers having panic attacks when discovering fentanyl.

Interestingly, there’s a rally outside which is audible near the windows. There’s a pretty significant police presence just outside the doors to city hall chambers, though that’s a fairly regular sight these days.

Los Angeles city hall doesn’t start for another hour and it’s already becoming a weird day. There’s a rally nearby and Hugo Soto-Martínez is speaking. LAPD officers have a list of people they are not letting in today for the city hall meeting. They’re citing disruptions, and one person currently being refused entry is an activist.

LA County has expanded cooling centers listed as available today. Unfortunately there is not much information (not even open/close hours) when you use the map feature but there is a list. I’ve screenshotted the map below:

ready.lacounty.gov/heat/ Image Tomorrow is expected to be hot too, and many cooling centers may not be open despite areas of Los Angeles County being 100+ Fahrenheit.

Further, many unhoused use businesses to quickly lower their temperature which may not be open tomorrow due to Labor Day according to the page. Image

White Lives Matter’s private chats show at least one of them arriving at a protest against abortion organized by a transphobic Proud Boy associate. Then post homophobic comments about him. Also looked to target photographers present. Archived screenshots their Telegram channel go back several months. Archived by at least two different sources, screenshots show the group desperate to identify people who have photographed them, as well as activists. Greetings! About 50 people are at LA city hall and beginning to march. Ala or are stationed nearby, but getting into vehicles and leaving. LAPD stationed nearby with 5 cruisers visible. Crowd seems to not be marching but rather moved to a different part of LA City Hall.

The anti-abortion protest at the US Courthouse is definitely growing in size. Though it was originally organized by RiseUp4AbortionRights (an alternate group of RevComs), orient lots of other pro-abortion orgs and people filing in. Definitely numbering in the hundreds now. Traffic now blocked in all lanes by the US Courthouse building in DTLA near Hill.

As part of their daily themed pickets, today’s theme is The Matrix. Many of the dancers and their supporters (@strippersunite) are clad in Matrix themed costumes. “White Lives Matter Official” has been announcing a “world-wide event” on April 16th. The group’s message has been shared in local groups in several states including California and promotes Neo-Nazi imagery as well as anti-Semitism and other racist beliefs.

Originally, the several pro-Biden were told to go about 30 feet back from the corner while the pro-Recall group were allowed to remain around 6 feet from the street. One man began explaining Sovereign Citizen views to justify standing closer to another pro-Recall protestor. Pro-Recall side growing in size as more move from further down the street to Faculty.
