Age 712 (yet again): Omori’s time machine wasn’t the only science project to end in disaster during this era. Over in movie land, a sudden weather shift buries the lab of Dr. Uiro (Wheelo) when his brain gets a little too big for his britches. #HistoryofEver
Both the common people and even Uiro’s own assistant Dr. Cochin attribute this lousy weather to divine judgment (who knows? Maybe Kami did something for a change), but thankfully Cochin comes up with an absolutely foolproof way of saving his master’s life.
(If Kami or some other god were involved, it might explain why a super genius needs the dragon balls just to melt some ice)
Four years later, there’s an equal and opposite natural disaster: in Age 716, the southern volcano Mt. Kiwi erupts, supposedly killing the legendary Fire-Eating Bird residing there. Thankfully it leaves behind an egg (and rumors of its death are greatly exaggerated anyway).
DBZ Movie 2 is set roughly around the Saiyan/Namek arc (in a nebulous, pre-BoG movie sort of way) in Age 762, so 50 years before that would be Age 712, oddly enough the same year as Capsule Corp’s founding. Clearly something was in the air.
And DB ep.150 is set shortly after the 23rd TB in Age 756, so 40 years before that would be 716.
Shortly earlier, in Age 714 (60 years before DBZ Movie 12 in Age 774), tragedy befalls a pair of star-crossed lovers...
Roshi’s character bio in the DBZ Movie 2 animanga describes him as having won the Tenkaichi Budokai (WMAT) 50 years ago, something that doesn’t seem to actually be spelled out in the movie itself, where Cochin just vaguely believes Roshi to be the strongest man as of 50 years ago
(Goku says Roshi won the tournament, but doesn’t specify when, so it’s possible that in movie land he just knows the truth about Jackie Chun)
Assuming the tournament sticks to a strict 5 year schedule, the closest one to Uiro getting put on ice in Age 712 would be the 13th TB in Age 710, so we might assume this is the one movie Roshi one (although this isn’t specified in any official source)
Tomorrow: it’s good to be the king!
