Wow!
“#PrincePhilip was often criticised because of his ‘gaffs’, but they weren’t really gaffs because most people were thinking that anyway.”
Former royal correspondent Dicky Arbiter on @itvnews talking about #dukeofedinburgh
Asked about #PrincePhillip’s “sense of fun” on @itvnews, Lady Pamela Hicks who was the Queen’s Lady-in-Waiting for years, responds with surprising frankness.

JOURNALIST: “It was the #dukeofedinburgh himself who decided that they should spend the day of the anniversary on Malta, for this most public of private couples
PHILIP: You finished?
#PrincePhillip photo-bombs @romillyweeks while she is talking about him.
Wow!
The BBC have set-up a special form on their website for people to complain about their wall-to-wall coverage #PrincePhilip’s death.
I’ve never seen them do this before. #dukeofedinburgh #RoyalFamily #RIPPrincePhilip bbc.co.uk/contact/death-…
There has been some discussion on my TL about what Lady Pamela says here
It does sound as if she uses the word “lul”, a lewd Dutch word for a male member (the diminutive = “lulletje”)
It can also have other obscene connotations such as “stomme lul!” meaning “stupid a***hole!”
Some people are suggesting that Lady Pamela is saying “leva lul” which they say translates to “topsy turvy” (in a bawdy way!)
But remember, large swathes of the British upper classes are so posh they don’t speak properly
They just make noises #LevaLul
A Dutch person has helpfully sent me this example of how #LevaLul is used in sentence.
“Hij glimlachte toen ik mijn hand tussen zijn dijen legde en zijn leva lul begon te wrijven.”
I think that settles it!
No surprise!
The BBC’s coverage of #PrincePhillip’s death is the latest skirmish in the culture war
Is BBC DG, Tim Davie, who once stood as a Tory councillor & was deputy chair of a local branch, bowing to absurd Tory claims BBC “isn’t patriotic enough”? theguardian.com/media/2021/apr…
