It’s remarkable how the culture of bad high end restaurants resembles that of bad law firms. 1/ nytimes.com/2021/04/27/din…
Drug and alcohol abuse
Nasty behavior, but everyone says it’s how to learn
Corner cutting while claiming it’s all super elite and fantastic
Candle burning at both ends that you say is done by hard work but actually the stuff just isn’t that good
The women don’t get promoted.
Especially not to the positions that you can use as a springboard.
And hey, some sexual abuse too (the analogy here isn’t as tight, but I’m sure this happens in firms too - I just can’t personally say I saw it)
Lots of good firms and lots of good restaurants. But some super toxic ones too.
