They claim to want conservatives, but if those cons fold in the face of hyped up scandal then these conservative and the GOP will lose elections.
Being a brawler is more important than being conservative.

But this wing kept being undermined on policy and on elections by the rest of the GOP; helping Dems win elections and ushering in liberal policies.
