BJP

9 seats were won by a margin between 5000-10,000 while 21 seats were won by margin of less than 5000

Least margin was in Dinhata constituency where BJP won by 57 votes

26 out of these 30 seats had Hindu population greater than 75% & yet margin of victory was wafer thin

TMC

24 seats were won by a margin between 5000-10,000 & 13 seats were won by margin of less than 5000

30 out of these 37 seats had Hindu population greater than 75% & yet TMC defeated BJP

Large number of them are from western Bengal where BJP had lead in Loksabha 2019

Districts which had maximum percentage of seats won by slim majority

1. Paschim Bardhaman- 6 out of 9 seats (66%)
2. Purba Medinipur - 9 out of 16 seats (56%)
3. Bankura - 6 out of 12 seats (50%)
4. Paschim Medinipur - 6 out of 13 seats (45%)
5. Purulia - 4 out of 9 seats (45%)

Paschim Bardhaman district:

Industrial & mining belts of Durgapur, Asansol, Raniganj, Jamuria with large Hindi-speaking population & greater than 75% Hindu votes

Total 9 seats. TMC 6, BJP 3. Reversal from LS 2019.

6 out of 9 seats (66%) won by thin margin

Purba Medinipur. Subhendu Adhikari's own district with > 80% Hindu population

Total 16 seats. TMC won 11, BJP 5

9 out of 16 seats (56%) won by thin margin

Subhendu could not influence beyond few constituencies in own district and 3 out of 5 seats of BJP were narrowly won

Bankura

12 assembly seats, BJP was leading in all during LS 2019.

This time, BJP won 8 and TMC 4

6/12 (50%) seats were won by thin margin.

ST Santhali community seats went back to TMC (Taldangra, Ranibundh, Raipur) while SC majority seats remained with BJP

Paschim Medinipur

BJP State President Dilip Ghosh's district. Subhendu's neighboring district. Again, another 80% Hindu district

45% seats had a tough fight.

11 out of 13 seats won by TMC. BJP almost wiped off. 2 seats won by BJP were also by razor thin margin
