Israeli airstrikes in Gaza have killed at least 198 Palestinians — about 1 in 3 were children.

42 people were killed on Sunday. One man lost his wife and 4 of 5 children: "I heard my son Zain calling: 'Daddy, daddy…' I couldn't turn to look at him because I was trapped."

Israel's attacks in occupied Gaza have displaced 38,000 Palestinians, says the UN. Airstrikes have destroyed residential buildings, leaving at least 2,500 people homeless.

Many have nowhere to go — there are no bomb shelters. "There is no safety in the city."

Israel bombed the main road leading to Gaza's biggest hospital. The health system is already near collapse due to Israel's blockade.

Doctors say some wounded are coming in missing limbs, including children. A health official said: "They are targeting mainly civilians."
