The three reasons for attacks on Hindu Temples are:

1. Economic
2. Religious
3. Political

Most of the temple wealth was used for public welfare. Temples financed developmental works like irrigation projects, land reclamation, creation of water bodies, construction of educational institutions, medical facilities & relief during natural calamities etc.

Even an ordinary temple had around 8-10 kilos of Gold and tons of silver. They had idols studded with precious gemstones.

Invaders from far and wide came to India to loot this immense wealth of temples.

In Abrahamic religions, idolatry is forbidden and considered a sin.

Thus, for Muslim rulers/invaders, Hindu temples and idols were against the tenets of I$lam.

So, they considered it their religious duty to fight Hindus and destroy temples, to earn the title of Ghazi!

Another reason to destruct the temple was to convert Hindus to I$lam. For the expansion of I$lam, many Muslim rulers wanted to convert the infidel Hindus to I$lam.

Temples weren't just places of worship, they were spiritual charging stations. Hindu temples are meant for spiritual learning, introspection, meditation and self realisation.

They played a crucial role in the spiritual development of society.

Temples also had educational institutions attached where religious and non-religious studies were conducted.

The temple structure was huge enough to act as refuge centre during times of political unrest and danger.

Now that's we know the importance of our temples, it becomes our duty to share it!
