"The proposed Bill is expected to replace the extant Law, the Lagos State College of Health Technology Law, 2004 (now Cap. L4, Laws of Lagos State, 2015), address the inadequacies in the existing law as well as giving it a broader and ...

...more elaborate coverage in line with the mandate of the College by providing services in other areas of Human Health with practical methodologies useful for Public and Private Sectors.

Moreso, to fill the observed capacity vacuum in the middle level manpower for self-employment and job creation.

In addition, it intends to make provision for courses of study, training & research in health technology leading to award of Certificates/National Diploma/Higher National Diploma/Postgraduate Diploma &professional Certificate as may be determined by the Gov.Council of the college

"Prior to the establishing state law that created what we know as the Lagos State Health Technology today, the School was created in 1920 as the School of Hygiene. The intention was to address the health challenges of that time and improve the human health resources.

We are here today to continue that laudable trend of paying adequate attention to our health by ensuring our college of Health Technology is not just barely functional but actually prestigious and stay competitive in the comity of similar institutions worldwide.

The Target is even more important today that there are untold challenges facing the global health sector.

Good public health is a responsibility of me and you. Importantly, the College of Health Technology is a good point of emphasis towards our goal of good public health.

Thank you and God Bless Lagos State."
