Heading to the city to cover unrest in Minneapolis following the death of Winston Smith. I should have some video uploaded within an hour or so. If you’d like to support my independent journalism please check the links below.
Anyways. See ya on the other side.
There’s currently just a very small crowd gathered outside the location where Winston Smith was killed, although the ones who are here have blocked off the intersection on all sides using vehicles and trash containers.
So far it’s peaceful.
A physical brawl just broke out with some people threatening to shoot others.
The crowd has begun being belligerent to the people who live in an apartment complex, screaming that they don’t care for justice cuz they stay inside.
Some dude just brought out an assortment of cinder blocks and set them by one of the blockades…
Police are surrounding the area at a distance.
Police just swarmed in from all directions. I avoided being kettled in.
Police slashed the front tires of the cars blockading the road so they couldn’t leave and they are now towing them.
The police already left after dispersing the crowd and a new one is already forming. Allegedly someone in one of the apartments egged the new crowd and so they’re yelling at the building again.
Not sure why the police left so soon.
New blockades are already going up.
The current group is still small but now they’re trying to block multiple intersections at once. Here’s the one I am at:
It was mildly entertaining watching this guy struggle to move a garbage can as the reforming crowd worked on blockading the intersection:
Police left and now the fires are being set.
The burning plastic smell in the air is awful
Police are returning. Lights and sirens in a distance
Two fires in the distance as police chase and tackle people
Intense scene
More fires. They’re setting trees on fire.
There’s so much smoke in the air
A guy got his head split open. When I asked around a black male said “I knocked him out”
I’m leaving now

This scooter photo makes me chuckle, it kinda looks like the police are guarding it.
