**#AzerbaijanGP Race Data MEGA THREAD**

Lots to sift through here with some interesting findings. Any comments, let me know!

It's going to be a long thread of stuff

#F1 #Formula1

(1 of many)

Overall lap time chart doesn't show us too much to be honest. Unlike Spain where the bands of racing were beautifully outlined. First stint it's vaguely there, second stint more so, then final stint is sorta wishy washy
#F1

(2/??)

Clean air lap pace table for Baku.
Clean air laps are any set outside of 2.5s of the car ahead. These can fall in the 1st/2nd half which can affect the time.
2 RBRs comfortably ahead and #SV5 is third fastest overall. Not bad stuff, and poor #VB77 is slower than #GR63...
(3/??)

Averaging the % pace of each driver across the 6 races (minus Imola due to rain) produces these tables of speed in clean air.
#MV33 is now the fastest across the season ahead of #LH44 & #SP11 who are CLEAR of everyone else. VB is still 4th fastest overall.

Stint 1 field break down:
SV fastest on softs by some way from PG & LH.
Drivers with a (*) did not complete any clean air laps in this stint.
#LS18 pace on hards was immense in stint 1, shame the tyre blew up
(5/??)

Stint 2:
Everyone yeeted the hards on for stint 2.
This is where RBR stretched their legs. Much more comfortable on the hards than anyone else. SV put in some WORK though.
#CS55 really struggling however. A middle range of CA laps are taken so there's no 'slow' laps
(6/??)

Now for the remaining mini stints, some drivers did 3/4, I've not bothered to break this down as they were so short and didn't add anything to the data. Especially the final 2 lap sprint fest to the end. That's got nothing worth analysing in
(7/??)

Now we start with teams.
@MercedesAMGF1 is first
VB just had a mare. Nothing worked for him all weekend.

Merc also 0.291s a lap FASTER in 2019 than 2021 pace, 1 of 3 teams to lose time in 2021.

VB was 2.578s off on softs, and 0.954s off on hards...not good.
(8/??)

@redbullracing second

A very solid weekend for #SP11, near enough matching the pace of MV all race.

RBR were 1.157s FASTER than 2019. No wonder the Merc gap is non existent now.

SP about 0.150s down on both stints to MV
(9/??)
#F1

@McLarenF1 is team 3

A better weekend for #DR3, but not his best. He was a bit more consistent than #LN4, just a touch slower.

McL were 0.848s FASTER than 2019, with DR not having a lot of pace on the softs, but more confidence on the hards.
(10/??)
#F1

@AstonMartinF1 is 4th

Not too much to take from the TM comparison here due to #LS18's DNF, but there were fairly even post SV pistop

AMR were 1.561s FASTER than 2019...this surprised me. Merc lost 0.3s, but AMR gained 1.5s...

(11/??)
#F1

@AlpineF1Team is team 5
Well there's always one which has no proper data. #EO31 DNF brings no TM comparisons

Alpine were 0.509s faster than 2019 pace.

(12/??)
#F1

@ScuderiaFerrari is team 6

A strange weekend for Ferrari. Pace in quali, but not in the race. #CS55 & #CL16 very inconsistent until the first SC restart.

Ferrari 0.150s faster than 2019 pace with CS really not enjoying the hards.

(13/??)
#F1

@AlphaTauriF1 7th

A strong weekend for the team! And much better from #YT22 this time.

AT were 0.642s faster than 2019, with YT being 0.480s slower per lap on stint 2. Much better consistency too.

(14/??)
#F1

@alfaromeoracing is 8th

Very good pace from Alfa, with #AG99 & #KR7 putting in decent laps.

Alfa though, were 0.557s SLOWER than 2019, so like Merc, they've lost time overall.
Again, like Monaco, AG & KR are so close.

(15/??)
#F1

@HaasF1Team is the penultimate team
A strong race from #MS47. Especially stint 2. #NM9 still a bit inconsistent in lap time, but post SC, he was a bit faster.

Haas were the third team to be slower than 2019 pace, by 0.268s.

The TM gulf is quite big still.

(16/??)
#F1

@WilliamsRacing Rounds off the teams!

#NL has some solid race pace. Unlucky for #GR63 though with his engine at the end.

Williams gained exactly 0.700s per lap on 2019, with GR actually being a bit slower on stint 2 on the hards

(17/??)
#F1

And there we go, race mega thread all done at dusted.
Please let me know any questions you have about the data!

Main takeaways:
VB in the mud (can he climb up)
SP has some rapid pace
MS is getting quicker (or NM is getting slower)
Mercedes have been ruined by this aero change
