90% of Avatar projects will be forgotten.
THREAD: Some thoughts on spotting the ones that won't
⬇️
Human beings need to belong, now more than ever.
In 2021, internet communities are primed to fulfil this need.
With the recent success of #BAYC, the # of available options has skyrocketed.
Unless you have ETH to 🔥, consider these:
Artwork:
Great artwork is the MINIMUM requirement. It’s not enough.
For most 10k mint projects this means trait variation is wide, and easy to discern visually.
Tip: 🚨 Avoid pixel art (unless it's a PUNK) 🚨
Distribution/ Drop mechanics:
Fair distribution goes a long way towards community sentiment at the start of a project.
IMO, this means RANDOM MINTING of ERC-721s via a website, with IMMEDIATE REVEAL if possible.
Why? ⬇️
Random reveals are fun. ✅
Gas wars on OS pre-mints are not. ❎
Random minting ➡️ high chance of sellout ➡️ stronger secondary market activity.
Delayed reveal allows for Metadata mischief (see bit.ly/SuperYeti).
Tip: 🚨 AVOID FOMO RAMPS 🚨
Roadmap:
Probably the MOST IMPORTANT factor in project longevity.
Made up of clear directives from dev team AND ongoing community initiatives. 🔥
TIP: 🚨 Be cautious of anonymous dev teams ➡️ they could always rug pull. Understand the risk.🚨
You:
Yes. YOU. 👋
Remember, once you invest in a project, you have a stake in its success.
Small contributions to the community add up. 🦾
Apes did this just by #apefollowape and retweeting /engaging with each others content.
Do what you can!
Thoughts recap: ⬇️
1. Great artwork and fair drop mechanics ✅
2. Clear roadmap ✅✅
3. Find small ways to contribute to your chosen community ✅✅✅
Q: What do you look for in collectible projects? I'd love to hear your thoughts!
