Okay, due to work, I've gotten a little behind with the #TableTopGails reports (AND last week's was massively huge). BUT I have been asked a lot about shorter, simpler games that people can play quickly so I thought I would talk about that a little and names some new faves!

1/

So, every day, either at breakfast or lunch, @rocketspouse and I, sometimes with Rocketkid, go out on our back patio and play a new game. We call these “Cup O’ Tea” games because they are quick to learn and we have them with a cup of tea. Here’s the view!

2/

First, LAST WORD STANDING, by @chroniclebooks, a very high quality word/card game, with an interesting twist.

You form words not just from your own cards, but also those of the other players, and from ‘community’ cards.

Great for wordplay fans!

3/

We found the components and cards to be very good, and fun to use. Gameplay is enjoyable. Our one niggle was the rules feel a bit incomplete, we needed to watch some YouTube videos to learn proper set-up. After that, solid fun. Recommended!

4/

As always, the funnest part of this is hearing from you game nerds. :)

What are your go-to Cup O’ Tea games, meaning quick and fun to play with little prep?

Also, if you have questions, the designers and publishers usually show up to read these threads, feel free to ask!

Next is THE FOX IN THE FOREST DUET, from @FoxtrotGames and @PlayRenegade. We LOVE LOVE LOVE the original version of this game, which is competitive. In this version, the two players cooperate, making a very different, but huge;y fun experience.

This game rocks. :)

6/

The original is just cards, this has a little tracking board and a whole new strategy elements, so it’s a card/board game. The art is, as before, stunning, with new characters and suits and skills.

We love it, highly recommended! A GREAT 2-player game!

7/

This next one is unique and very fun, it require 3 players, but you can play with more in teams. It’s TEAM 3 by @BrainGames_int, and it is played with Tetris-like plastic blocks. One player looks at a card with the shapes, another player has to match it with the blocks. BUT…

8/

…the player who sees the card can’t TALK while describing the card to the 2nd player, who has to describe the card to the THIRD player, who can’t open his eyes at all!

It’s hilarious, and suspenseful. A great party.family game!

RECOMMENDED! You will LAFF!

9/

Again, the game seems simple, but it KICKED OUR BUTTS the first few rounds, until you get a non-verbal language going. After that, the cards have levels of difficulty, making it challenging the more you play. There are videos of players, very fun to watch!

10/

And finally, we just played this for the first time today. But we CAN’T STOP PLAYING IT. It’s DUNGEON MAYHEM from @Wizards_DnD.

I know everyone knows about this game already but WHY DIDN’T YOU TELL ME IT’S THE FUNNEST CARD GAME EVER?

Seriously, 10 out of 10.

11/

No hype, this is one of the funnest card games we’ve ever played. Not only is it easy to learn and different each time, they managed to somehow convey a lot of the fun of D&D in a simple set of rules and components. How much did we love it?
We played it 10 TIMES in a row!

12/

The set comes with four decks for four different characters (paladin, rogue, wizard, barbarian), and each deck matches the character’s combat style. You keep track of hit points and shield and spells, but it’s EFFORTLESS. It’s just perfectly executed.

13

Games last around ten minutes. You will be hooked, I promise.

You’ll want to try different combinations of characters and different numbers of players. It is an astoundingly Great game design and we could NOT stop playing. Highest recommendation for Dungeon Mayhem!

14/

That’s it for now for #tabletopgails…as always, these games are given to me, I am not paid for any endorsement and my opinions are my own.

If one of these sounds cool. Try it!

Thank you to

@ChronicleBooks
@FoxtrotGames
@PlayRenegade
@BrainGames_int
And @Wizards_DnD!

Yay!

Seriously, these little game breaks have made a HuGe difference to my family’s hoy and welfare, you don’t always have time for Gloomhaven, for example.

Grab a couple easy fun games and have your own Cup O’ Tea break, you won’t regret it!

Love to all!

JOY and welfare!
