Maybe I manage to tweet an interesting bike per day from next week on? 1/x

Team size now is 28.

First duty of the day #Stadtradeln #StadtradelnDD21

This morning I had an idea: no daily bike pics, instead accessories. Today: rain poncho.

I used an event poncho not made for biking.

4/x

And here comes the next useful bike tool: bungee straps.

#Stadtradeln

5/x

Bike utility of the day: Bottle holder. Great for longer rides!

#Stadtradeln
6/x

Bikes need air. Some bikes have built in pump holders.

7/x #Stadtradeln #StadtradelnDD21

How far did I cycle? Well in the old days we used bicycle computers to count kilometres. Kids like these on their first big tour and are super proud hitting 50km/d .

For completeness a selection of mechanical odometers: rennrad-news.de/forum/threads/…

Bike locks protect against theft. Ideally you lock frame and a wheel to some fixed infrastructure.

9/x

Additionally you can register your bike.

Chains need to be lubricated. So use some biodegradable stuff! As live washes away, don't use Teflon or any other nano particles. Nature does not like that.

11/x #Stadtradeln #StadtradelnDD21

Belt drives work without lube and last around 10 times longer.

12/x #stadtradeln

Bike tool of the day: Smartphone, runs apps like @STADTRADELN or @osmandapp. Great for tracking and navigation at unknown places. Also useful for documenting infrastructure issues, like vanishing bike lanes.

13/x #Stadtradeln

@STADTRADELN @osmandapp And the next utility: An office bike bag. Protects your valuables during your daily commutes. A long belt makes it easy to carry over the shoulder.

14/x #stadtradeln

And if you like to use small front bags, you can hang them low at your low rider at the front. Brings centre of gravity down for even better controllability.

15/x Last week of #Stadtradeln in @stadt_dresden.

Rain again during #Stadtradeln . This time I needed to use rain pants. Keeps lower body bone dry. Except shoes.

16/x

Need to transport some goods? How about a mono porter for your bike. Super slime, super light. Carries 25 kg no problem.

17/x #Stadtradeln #StadtradelnDD21

If you need to transport 50 or 60kg, then you can use the kids bike trailer which you bought years ago. Instead of selling it, you can do the weekly supermarket visit or even go to building marktet.

18/x #Stadtradeln

Running out of handle bar? Get an extension!

19/x #stadtradeln

Do you see that compass in the bell?

You are not cycling alone? Get a friendly bell!
Doppler effect helps pedestrians to spot you acoustically.

20/x #stadtradeln

Smaller Kids can be transported on a bike with an extra seat.

21/x #stadtradeln

Most important utility at the end of this thread. Helmet! During summer it provides a bit of shade as well.

During a dooring accident (car door opens suddenly) a helmet saved my head.
