The B.617.2 Delta variant from India now accounts for 20.6% of new infections in the US. The P.1 Brazil variant is also growing, to 16.4%. The B.1.1.7 UK variant remains dominant at 52.2%.
New hospital admissions in the US due to COVID-19 are still declining, but starting to level off, down just -1.3% from a week ago.
The US administered over 1.3 million vaccine shots yesterday, bringing the total to 327 million, or 98.4 doses per 100 people. The 7-day moving average rose back over 1.0 million shots per day.
