Good evening! I’m here at the Newton Police Station, where a press conference is being held “to demand answers and accountability for the detonation of a reportedly ten pound explosive Wednesday…” according to the @CMTYCtrlPolice Instagram page.

One woman, who says she is from the South LA community says “If they really cared for the community, they would have handled it a lot better,” touches on what she feels has been bias in the community.

Crowd is about 30-40, including media present. LAPD officers in front of the entrance to the building. Several LAPD cruisers on a nearby corner with “riot gear,” helmets on dashboard.

It’s not possible for a professional bomb squad with the most sophisticated, high tech expensive equipment could possibly accidentally blow up a neighborhood,” a man stated after a truck horn blows for several seconds.

Press conference over, it looks like. A small confrontation between a press conference attendee and the police nearby.

Some recent reporting from @ShotOn35mm over at @LATACO regarding the explosion yesterday.

“All Fireworks Are Illegal” sign hung at the fire station across from the street from Newton Station, which is the location of the press conference regarding the explosion today. An interesting tidbit.
