DoD chapter 6 released in Japanese! Today it's about Ichirou. Informal summary thread below:

This chapter takes place when MCD and NB first began working together and opens on the boys winning a rap battle. After complaining about how easy the other team is, Sasara asks if everyone wants to get a bite to eat. Ichirou says nah, he has stuff to do. #hypspoiler

Kuukou tries to change his mind. After all, Sasara's paying! (Off to the side, Sasara mutters that he never said that.) But no, Ichirou insists, he has a job he needs to get to. Samatoki asks if Ichirou is strapped for cash. #hyspoiler

Not really, says Ichirou, but he wants to move himself and his brothers out of the tiny apartment they're currently living in. Samatoki offers to lend Ichirou the money needed for this, but Ichirou politely declines. #hypspoiler

Still, Samatoki insists, if Ichirou's ever in trouble, he knows who to call. It's a good bonding moment right up until Sasara butts in to make a truly awful joke. As Kuukou yells at him for this comedic travesty, Ichirou says goodbye to Samatoki and heads off to work. #hypspoiler

There's a montage of Ichirou unloading boxes from a truck, carrying construction materials, and directing traffic. He arrives home late at night to find Saburou and Jirou... well, Saburou... doing homework and waiting for him for dinner. #hypspoiler

Tonight's meal - half-off convenience store meals, eaten with disposable chopsticks. But at least it's something. Ichirou comments that the place they live in is really small. It looks like they have a 6-mat room (about 100 sq ft or 9 sq meters) - #hypspoiler

- with an attached balcony and (presumably) a toilet and bath. Jirou says it's small, sure, but he doesn't mind. Saburou comments that it's too small to get his homework done in. Ichirou tells them not to worry, he's getting enough money so they can move - #hyspoiler

- and have bedrooms for each of them! Jirou and Saburou tell him not to work too hard, as they're okay with the current setup. The next morning at 4 am, as Ichirou sleeps, the two head out to deliver newspapers to their neighbors. #hypspoiler

If they work harder, Jirou says, they'll be more helpful to Ichirou and he won't have to push himself so hard!

Back at Ichirou's construction job, Ichirou eats his lunch (convenience store rice balls) as one of his coworkers vents to him. #hypspoiler

As it turns out, this coworker took out an illegal loan, and since he was accidentally late on last month's payment, he's being threatened. He thought he was supposed to pay by the 7th of the month, but due to "bad handwriting", it was supposed to be paid on the 1st. #hyspspoiler

The coworker doesn't know what to do, but Ichirou steps in and offers his help. It turns out our loan sharks (har har) are the Samejima (har har) brothers from back in the TDD vol 2 bonus chapter. These guys: slugtranslation-hypmic.tumblr.com/post/190890392…

The Samejimas are up to no good as they talk about future plans. An old lady who lives alone nearby (one of the people on Jirou and Saburou's paper route, actually) is going out of town for a few days, and she keeps all her money in a drawer. It's a great opportunity. #hypspoiler

Ichirou manages to sort out the loan deal for his coworker, and the coworker thanks him by slipping some money into his pocket. He's also told everyone he knows that Ichirou is good at getting people out of jams, so Ichirou begins doing odd jobs for these people. #hypspoiler

All this work is wiping him out, so Samatoki suggests he open up an actual odd job store. In fact, Samatoki's got a little job for Ichirou too.

The scene cuts to Jirou and Saburou getting their paychecks from the newspaper and on the way back seeing something odd. #hypspoiler

There's a moving van in front of the old lady's house, but isn't she out on vacation? They recognize Samejima as one of the movers and think that something's not right, so they follow the moving van to another building. Jirou and Saburou try to investigate the place - #hypspoiler

- but have to hide in a locker when they hear someone's footsteps. Outside, Samatoki leads Ichirou to the very same building. Samatoki knew Samejima and co. were building a hideout in that place, so he and Ichirou are on their way to flush them out. #hypspoiler

Ichirou breaks the door down and rap battling ensues. Ichirou is strong, but he's no match for two brothers. But just then, HIS brothers burst out of the locker and join him in battle. More rap battling leads to a Buster Bros victory. #hypspoiler

After everyone makes sure everyone else is okay, Samatoki thanks them for clearing out the trash and then offers use of the building to the Yamadas. Ichirou is stunned but Samatoki reminds him that he needed a place to live, right? #hypspoiler

The rent will be cheap since the landlord of this building owes Samatoki a huge favor. Samatoki will also comp the security deposit as payment for the Yamadas' help in clearing out the Samejimas. #hypspoiler

And since it's a big space, Samatoki points out, why not open up an odd job business here? He thinks Ichirou would be great at it. Ichirou remembers all the work he's done across the chapter and smiles. He turns to his brothers and says this could be a good idea. #hypspoiler

The chapter ends there with the formation of Yamada Odd Jobs and the Buster Bros in a new home thanks to Samatoki. #hypspoiler
