Cyprus currently has the most Covid cases per capita on Earth yet, before the most recent wave began, they had already vaccinated the majority of their adult population:
Unlike other nations (Seychelles) which had large outbreaks after vaccination, Cyprus has not deployed any Chinese or Russian vaccines:
Thus far, it also does not appear that cases have become disassociated from illness or death in Cyprus (although it is too early to know for sure).
Interestingly, a couple days ago a British aircraft carrier visited Cyprus and now about 1/7 of the crew have tested positive (all fully vaccinated and young, so none are sick).

At this point, it appears that none of the available vaccines are sufficiently protective against infection or transmission, at least on a population level. Vaccines alone won't end Covid.
I'm wondering what this means for zero covid nations like New Zealand and Australia...
