In Buddhism, Avalokiteśvara has 108 Avatars. One of these avatars is called PadmaPANi, the one who holds the Self Born Lotus (Padma = WOMB of Creation). AvalokiteSHVARA embodies the cAUM+PASSION of all Buddhas. In Tibet, he is known as Chenrezig. In China as Guanyin/ Guanshiyin.

In JaPAN Avalokiteśvara is known as Kannon or Kanzeon, Gwanseum in Korea & Quan Am in Vietnamese. In Nepal Mandal, HE/ SHE is known as Jana Baha Dyah, KarunaMAYA or Seto Machindranath. He is known as Natha Deviyo in Sri Lanka. In Thailand & Cambodia, he is called as Lokesvara.

According to the Kāraṇḍavyūha Sūtra, the Sun & Moon are born from Avalokiteśvara's Eyes, Shiva from his Brow, Brahma from his Shoulders, Narayana/ VishNU from his Heart, Sarasvati from his Teeth, the Winds from his Mouth, the Earth from his Feet, and the Sky from his Stomach.

In Sanskrit, Avalokiteśvara is also referred to as Lokeśvara ("Lord of the World"). In Tibetan, Avalokiteśvara is Chenrézig, and is said to emanate as the Dalai Lama. An etymology of the Tibetan name Chenrézik means one who always looks upon all beings (with the 👁️ of compassion)

Mahāyāna Buddhism relates Avalokiteśvara to the six-syllable mantra oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ. In Tibetan Buddhism, due to his association with this mantra, Avalokiteśvara is called Ṣaḍākṣarī "Lord of the Six Syllables" in Sanskrit. 108 is the Number of Spiritual Completion

Avalokiteśvara is popularly worshiped in Myanmar, where he is called Lokanat. In Thailand, he is called Lokesvara. In Indochina and Thailand, he is Lokesvara, "The Lord of the World." In Tibet he is Chenrezig, also spelled Spyan-ras gzigs, "With a Pitying Look."

Many who revere Avalokiteśvara upheld the Buddhist rejection of the doctrine of any Creator god, Encyclopædia Britannica does cite Avalokiteśvara as the creator god of the world. This position is used Karandavyuha Sutra with its well-known mantra Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ

“O Son of a virtuous family! If innumerable hundreds of thousands of myriads of koṭis of sentient beings who experience suffering hear of Avalokiteśvara & wholeheartedly chant his name, Avalokiteśvara will perceive their voices & FREE them from their sufferi"

(Lotus Sutra)

Some Buddhist & Christian observers have commented on the similarity between Guanyin & the Virgin Mary. Due to the representation of Guanyin holding a child in Art. Guanyin is the patron saint of mothers & grants parents filial children, known as the "Child-Sending Guanyin
