In 2018-2019, the Government drastically increased the National Security Council Secretariat’s budget again to Rs 841.73 crore, of which Rs 715.89 crore was under capital budget.

In 2019, this was drastically reduced to Rs 152 crore.

Seems like, National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), led by Mr. Ajit Doval, did some large-scale "capital investment" into "something", during 2017 and 2018?

It's clear that NSCS expenses have jumped massively from ~30 Cr levels to 330 cr in 2017-18, & remained high in 2018-19, before coming down a bit.

Also, the "Cyber Security Research and Development", component, that was missing before 2017 is the main contributor to this.

In "normal" levels, pre 2017,
Salaries ~17 cr
Office 7 cr
Secret Service 5cr were the main costs.

In next year, 2017-18, which witnessed the 10 fold increase in the budget of NSCS from 33 cr to 330 cr, a new "Cyber Security Research and Development" expense suddenly appears, and becomes 90% of the budget of NSCS.

Salary & office expenses jumped 20% &40% next year. Is this more people now sifting through the large amount of data being thrown out of #PegasusSpyware? We still had 260 cr, nearly 85% of budget spent on "Cyber Security Research and Development"

Pegasus license costs $8 million (~Rs 60 cr) to spy on 50 phones. Allegedly, the Indian numbers were first added in 2017. The budget for National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS), led by Mr. Ajit Doval went up 10 fold in 2017-18.
