The much bigger news was that Trump had said he didn't care that the election was not corrupt, but he wanted the DOJ to just say it was
And relatedly that Trump was talking of his R. Congressmen that would support his coup d'etat already in December
This is smoking gun on Jan 6
Up to now, Trump could have attempted to say that the crowd on Jan 6 misunderstood him, and he did not mean for them to march to the Capitol
Now we know Trump KNEW there was no fraud in the election but wanted a PRETENSE. And that Trump was plotting the coup already in December
This is similar to Trump confessing to Ukraine extortion. This is similar to Trump confessing the tax fraud in New York
Legally, it is still a 'he said/she said' type of argument. It needs collaborating witness(es) but those will come.
The effects of this item impact widely beyond Trump and the immediate White House Trumpomobster sphere. This reaches well into Congress
We knew Mo Brooks was involved. And clearly a few others (Qevin McCarthy, Gym Jordan, Statutory Gaetz) but there will be plenty more
And here is the scary part. We now know that Jan 6th was planned from December - INCLUDING SITTING CONGRESSMEN. Up to now, I had only felt confident that some in Trump inner circle (Roger Stone, Don Jr, Bannon etc) were planning it from December. Now we know several in Congress
The actual communication between Trump and any member of Congress is easy to get, because due to Jan 6th, all telephone records have already been collected by the FBI from the telecoms carriers. This includes landlines and cellphones, even any 'burner' phones.
Eventually those involved planning Jan 6 will all be prosecuted and they will face time in prison measured in decades
Also I would expect that Congress will pass unanimous bipartisan vote to ban all Jan 6th criminals under the 14th Amendment to never run for Congress or Senate
PS - Vital Detail
There were 3 members of Congress mentioned by name in that phone call. Two are GOP House Members (Gym Jordan, Scott Perry) and one Senator (Ron Johnson). They must be subpoenaed
