#SnapCon21 took place last week online and the @SnapCloud organising team upped the online conference game in terms of making it easy to navigate - I jotted down some of notable features
snapcon.org/conferences/20…
@SnapCloud jot1
a daily email arrived on with reminders and links directly to each conference space
@SnapCloud jot2
on the conference website the scheduling had a direct line to ‘what’s on now’ and ‘what’s next’, a rolling timeline, with time elapsed indicated
@SnapCloud jot3
in small print for every single session there was a link to a pop out ‘your timezone’ - a lifesaver as we were convening from china around to California [which meant at meal breaks we were heading off for breakfast to supper and everything in between]
@SnapCloud jot4
a relaxation space called “The Hallway” [using the platform OhYeh] was open all the time - loads of spaces from ‘hotel bar’ to ‘lakeside campfire’ - reminded me of The Cantina at #cesicon and #ictedu
@SnapCloud jot5
a dynamic keynote format which used pre-recorded video made by the speaker, who then was in the audience with us, answering questions for us in the chat - very imaginative, very compelling, very good idea
@SnapCloud jot6
one of three more ‘unconference’ spaces: there was a zero hour invitation to attendees to Share Your Project via an upload facility, for a live ‘show and tell’ session on the final day
@SnapCloud jot7
another unconference ‘unexpected delight’ - a visit to the Cyber University (imagine a programmable Gathertown!) which custom built for après-conference
@SnapCloud jot8
the unconference part of Snap!Con offers spaces for Birds Of A Feather [already shortened to “BoF” which has a ring to it] so that groups can put out a call to get together by interest or practice … no agenda until you get to the space - Turtlestitch BoF pictured here:
@SnapCloud jot9
the best shortcut of all for navigating the ether was the button on each event in the schedule to go directly to join in
@SnapCloud Many thanks to the organising committee of #SnapCon21 - as well as all of the above, the content was terrific. But all of the above made it easier to spend four days in screen mode without getting too fatigued </>🧵
