*Khallikot university Berhampur ,is the second oldest college in Odisha, was established in 1878 by Harihara Mardraj Deo, the King of Khalikote

Khalikote king was the first patron of the institution.
*in addition to khallikote king many kings from southern odisha like Digapahandi,Podamari,Sheragada , Jarada,Surangi , Paralakhemundi , Bodogada,Urlam ,biruli ,Kurupam king donated much for upliftment of education

After sudden demise of Harihara mardaraj on 20-7-1909 ,Dharakot king Sri Madan Mohan Singh Deo took the charge of khallikote college

In relation king of Dharakot was the brother in law of Harihara mardaraj

At the time there was no science block in the campus
*Due to lack of science laboratory, Dharakot King Shri Madan Mohan Singh Deo donated a two-story multi-room building with science laboratory equipments

which will cost more than Rs 1 crore now a days.

The laboratory was named as Dharakote Science Laboratory.

* This was unveiled on 4 February 1902 by the Governor of Madras, Sir Arthur Lawley.
* After running of hundred years the building was declared as endangered building
*Now new building is under construction for

*Now the Khalikot College converted to University

Our kind request to @SMEOdisha @IPR_Odisha is kindly preserve some part of ancient monumental building with the prestigious marble plaque and make statue of dharakot king infront of newly constructed building
