Coastal elites, particularly rich white liberals, cannot handle anything that is not customary behavior in their tribe. They stress out easily, they are emotionally weak. When confronted with any level of hardship, they collapse.
When SHTF, the people who really matter all have the same traits, it ain't skin color, it's callouses and dirty fingernails... and there ain't no stopping to give help to those who are worried about their shoes getting dirty because the road ain't paved.
