This is an interesting report which sheds a lot of light on the disinformation campaigns against Pakistan. I found some information on Habib Khan, who is one of the instigators of the sanction campaign. #AfghanLeaks [Thread]
There must be a reason why he hates Pakistan so much. I dug around a bit more and I found out that his parents spent years of poverty and hardship in a refugee camp in Pakistan. So much hatred for a nation which gave refuge to his family.
The man is obsessed with everything about Pakistan, and then claims that we have Afghan Phobia. He is so petty that he even celebrates sporting wins where Pakistan loses.
Here’s a sample of some of the people he follows. It helps put in perspective because he is the way he is. Altaf Hussain, Shafi Buraft and even Kahkashan Haider (MQM-L hitwoman)
Then we have some from the SAATH forum here.
In the other corner, we have Chris Alexander and Carlotta Gall (NYT) who was called out earlier for tweeting a misleading image of a Pakistani Military officer (martyred in a domestic operation) by claiming that he died in Afghanistan.
There is some love for the PTM and other nationalists.
He also follows BSNs and supports their free state.
Here are some of the Indian accounts he follows including Adnan Sami.
HKT is a smol man when it comes to sporting events.
It gets worse from here. Here are a couple of tweets from February 10, 2012, when Pakistan beat Afghanistan in an ODI, where he claimed that Pakistan was using cricket as politics. How messed up do you have to be to come up with that analogy?
There are literally dozens of tweets against Pakistan in the past month. If I were to include all of them, it would be a long thread.
When he has spare time on his hands, he likes sharing fake pictures linking the Taliban to Pakistan. The one he shared is photoshopped with the Pakistani flag, while the original one is on the right.
This isn’t the first time he has done this. Last year he threw a fit, when Michael Kugelman pointed out a blatantly obvious fake news post.
He claims that refugee camps were used to recruit people for the war in Afghanistan. Then he claims that we dehumanized refugees by allowing them here.
He believes that Pakistan wants Afghans to be illiterate but doesn’t mention that they donate a wing at Kabul University or the fact that our government gives them scholarships to study at local universities.
In his spare time, he likes cheerleading for the PTM. He has been waiting for “Pashtun Spring” since an eternity.
He stans the PTM and Manzoor Pashteen big time so much that he even invited him to a Clubhouse session. Here he is also gleefully sharing a pic of a PTM supporter flipping off the state.
He also likes the idea of a separate state for the Baloch. I wonder why?
Then there is his obsession with the Pakistani Military. Sounds similar to what the PTM tweets.
Habib dislikes Pakistan but loves having a white savior. Here he is interacting with his hero Chris Alexander.
Here he is throwing a fit about World Bank officials leaving Afghanistan.
That concludes the character sketch of a Pakistan hating Afghan Nationalist. He will only find fault in others but never blame his own.
