Rulers of Afghanistan since 1800 and the fate they suffered.

1.Zaman Shah - (Reign 1793-1801)
Deposed, and blinded by his brother Mahmud Shah Durrani. Died a pensioner of the British in Ludiana (India).
2.Mahmud Shah Durrani - (1st reign 1801-1803)
Thrown into a dungeon after the orders to blind him were revoked by Shuja-ul-Mulk aka Shah Shuja Durrani
3.Shah Shuja Durrani - (1st reign 1803-1809)
Deposed by Mahmud Shah Durrani, and went into exile first with the Sikhs and then with the British.
4.Mahmud Shah Durrani - (2nd reign 1809-1818)
Deposed by the Barakzais brothers including Dost M. Khan)
5 & 6: Ali Shah Durrani and Ayub shah Durrani (reign 1819-1823). The two brothers snatched throne from each other ultimately losing it to the Barakzais.
7. Dost Mohammad Khan - (1st reign 1823-1839)
Removed by Shah Shuja with the help of the British and Sikhs. Was forced into exile to India.
8. Shah Shujah Durrani (2nd reign 1839-1842)
Killed during the rebellion in 1842.
9. Wazir Akbar Khan - (reign 1842-1845)
Died very young at the age of 29 under mysterious circumstances, some alleging his father other the British behind his death)
10. Dost Mohammad Khan (2nd reign 1845*-1863)
Died of natural causes at Kabul.
11. Amir Shir Ali Khan (1st reign 1863-1866)
Deposed/forced out by his brother Afzal Khan (but he returned again later)
12. Afzal Khan (reign 1866-1867)
Died of natural causes at Kabul
13. Azim Khan (reign 1867-1869)
Deposed by Amir Sher Ali Khan
14. . Amir Sher Ali Khan - (2nd reign 1869-1879)
Deposed by the British.
15. Amir Yaqub Khan - (reign 1879-1879)
Abdicated, and took refuge with the British in India.
16. Sardar Ayub Khan - (reign 1897-1880)
Deposed, and exiled into British India. Died at Lahore and buried at Peshawar.
17. Amir Abdur Rahman Khan - (reign 1880-1901)
Died of natural causes at Kabul.
18. Amir Habibullah Khan - (reign 1901-1919)
Killed at Kabul, and replaced by Nasrullah Khan.
19. Nasrullah Khan, reigned only for 2 weeks in 1919 amidst all the chaos, and was deposed by Amir Amanullah Khan.
20. Amir Amanullah Khan - (reign 1919-1928)
Won complete independence from the British, introduced modernizing reforms some of which were deemed un-islamic. In the face of imminent threats, he abdicated and went into exile.
21. Amir Inayatullah Khan holds the record for the shortest rule of only 3 days before being deposed, and exiled to British India in 1929.

22. Habibullah Kalakani ruled Kabul for about 9 months in 1929. Deposed and hanged to death by King Nadir Shah
23. King Nadir Shah ruled for about 4 years before being shot killed in Kabul in 1933.
24. King Zahir Shah ruled Afghanistan for about 40 years, the longest rather peaceful rule by any Afghan ruler. In 1973 he was deposed by his cousin Sardar Daud while he was on a visit of Europe.
25. Sardar Daud Khan - ( reign 1973-1978)
Mercilessly killed along family members in a coup by the leftist communist factions of Afghanistan.

26. Nur Mohammad Tarakai - (reign 1978-1979)
The first communist ruler of Afghanistan. Soon Killed in 1979 at Kabul.
27. Hafizullah Amin only ruled for a couple of months in 1979 before he was killed by the Soviets in 1979, marking the beginning of their direct military intervention in Afghanistan.

28. Babrak Karmal - (reign 1979-1986)
Ruled as per the wishes of the Soviets but all his tenure saw mounting resistance by the Mujahideen supported by the western and arab countries, and by the neighboring countries of Afghanistan.
He died in 1996 in Moscow.
29. Dr. Najibullah - (reign 1987-1992)
Forced to resign in the face of imminent collapse in 1992, and later was shot & hanged to death in 1996 by the Taliban.
Civil war period. Can’t name one person with authority at all over AFG or Kabul but just mentioning Sibghatullah Mujadadi, Burhanuddin Rabbani.
The former made to resign; the latter assassinated.
30. Mullah Omar - (reign 1996-2001)
As Amir of Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan ruled between 1996 and 2001. He was over thrown by the US led military coalition in 2001.
31. Hamid Karzai (@KarzaiH)
Ruled Afghanistan as president during the presence of foreign militaries in Afghanistan between 2001 and 2014
He is the only Afghan ruler alive, and not in exile!
Dr. Ashraf Ghani (@ashrafghani) - (reign 2014-2021)
Dr. Ghani is the latest Afghan ruler to have gone into exile.

Well, the Durrani Empire of AFG was established in 1747 with Ahmad Shah Durrani as its founding father. He died of natural causes in 1772 & then his son Timur Shah Durrani also died of natural causes in 1793.
I started from 1800 bcz of the quoted tweet.
