1. In July 2018 Quillette posted an article by a pseudonymous author named Barrett Wilson that went viral. It smells like a full diaper and aged about as well. Let's examine it.

2. I'm not linking to the nearly 1,100 word article, because fuck Quillette and their clicks. I've archived it so it can't be changed without being noticed.

You can view it in its entirety here:

3. In just the first paragraph, there's a lot to unpack.

Barrett claims to be doing food delivery because he was canceled professionally. His "I upset the wrong person" and claims of being publicly shamed into being a pariah in his industry don't fit together. Which was it?

4. I'm not a journalist, but if you're a new author to an outlet isn't thanking your Editor in your first paragraph a bit odd? 🤔 The way he talks it sounds like he was a published author before this article.

It's all just so weird.

5. Over 3 years later I can state objectively that if he held any of these "woke" beliefs in the past they haven't leaked out into either his Twitter or his articles that I can tell.

The whole way he talks is like how a conservative talks about "wokeness". It sounds fake.

6. Again, this paragraph sounds like a bad trope brought to life.

7. Read this aloud and try not to laugh, I fucking dare you. 🤣

8. Another case of where it sounds like what someone far to the right of center would imagine someone on the left doing. It's agonizingly bad over acting imho.

This went viral on the right.

9. B U L L S H I T. Again, this reeks of what the far right think, not what someone on the left experienced.

10. It's interesting that in neither here nor in the first paragraph does Barrett even hint at what he was accused of doing, but there sure are a lot of buzzwords in the paragraph.

11. He's not complaining, except for these 1,090 words. Joking aside, this reads like #WalkAway talking points.

12. This article was published in Quillette, which was publishing Andy Ngo at the time.

You can't square that circle, because it's impossible to do.

13. I don't believe this person when back into their Twitter archives to examine what "woke Barrett" posted. 🤣

14. I don't believe this story in the slightest.

15. Right. Ok. Lol.

16. I do believe Barrett was targeted with "social justice vigilantism", but he wasn't a lefty and his story is bullshit.
