Comparing Jorginho's "fan-acclaimed" and "media-acclaimed" Ballon d'Or year to Luka Modric's Ballon d'Or year.[A SHORT THREAD OF STATS].

In this thread, I'll be making statistical comparison between Jorginho's 20-21 season+Euros and Luka Modric's 17-18 season+World Cup.

And then I'll leave everyone to judge by the end of the thread.

Before I go on, I'd like to state that my belief is that the only two that have a solid argument for this year's Ballon d'Or are Messi and Lewandoski.

Number 3 can be debated among several players.

Now to the main point.

Luka Modric functions as a deep-lying playmaker for Real Madrid while Jorginho functions as a central midfielder for Chelsea.

Modric's stats will come first and then Jorge's own will be the vs.

1. Domestic League stats.
👕APPS:
2️⃣8️⃣ vs 2️⃣6️⃣.
AVERAGE MATCH RATING:
7.44 vs 7.18.
GOALS:

ASSISTS:

KEY PASSES:
3️⃣9️⃣ vs 2️⃣4️⃣.
CHANCES CREATED:
4️⃣5️⃣ vs 2️⃣5️⃣.
PASS ACCURACY:
89.85% vs 89.33.
LONG PASS ACCURACY:
79.75% vs 58.02%
TAKE-ON RATE:
76.19% vs 68%.

It is clear in the above stats that Jorginho only surpasses Luka Modric in terms of goal scored and that Modric is supreme in terms of playmaking stats.

N.B: Both players have zero individual awards in the league.

2. #UCL stats.
APPS:
1️⃣1️⃣ vs 1️⃣2️⃣.

GOALS:

KEY PASSES:

LONG PASS ACCURACY:
77.46 vs 67.24.

TAKE-ON RATE:
66.67 vs 55.56.

Both players are very tied in terms of the goals and playmaking stats. Modric has a slight edge for the passing accuracy stats even though Jorginho, a central midfielder and a ball distributor should have more.

Zero individual awards.

Both won the UCL.

International tournament stats.

WC vs UEFA EURO.

APPS:

CHANCES CREATED:

SHOTS AT GOAL:
6️⃣ vs 0️⃣.

Individual awards:

Modric won the player or the tournament.

Jorginho won none.

It is very obvious that Modric was overly supreme over Jorge at the international tournament, despite the WC being harder and Croatia being an underdog.

It is also clear that Jorginho's tournament ( which marked the award push) wasn't elite and that the only iconic moment that brought a lot of attention was his calmly taken winning PK vs Spain compared to Luka who was always seen as Croatia's main and best player in every game.

Players like Chiesa, Insigne, Barrela, Bonnucci and the wing back that got injured (his name skipped my mind) were the ones that delivered mind blowing displays for Italy.

I am putting emphasis on the Euros because it marked the start of the push for him to win the award.

Italy's midfielder, Marco Verrati was clearly the team's best midfielder as he topped the FedEx performance zone ranking with Jorginho only coming sixth.

Verrati also won the Coupe de Ligue, why can't I give him Ballon d'Or shouts.

For everyone who watched the player's performance at the EUROs +PL +UCL, it is clear without bias that he is only getting such shouts because of team awards. [END OF THREAD].

Emerson also won both trophies so why doesn't he get a shout for the award. If Jorginho wins the award, it'll mark the start of the decrease in value of the prestigious awards.

He didn't even have a season as good as that of Sneijder and Iniesta (09/10). Or Ribery (12/13).
