The Iranian/ Kurdish Faith of Yazidis believe the UNI-verse to be in the care of Seven Holy Beings, often known as Angels or Heft Sirr ('the Seven Mysteries'), 1st of which is Tawûsê Melek, the Peacock Angel. Yazidis are called Miletê Tawûsê Melek, the nation of Melek Taus.

Tawûsê Melek, the Peacock Angel, refused to bow before the 1st Human, when God ordered the Seven Angels to do so. The command was actually a test, meant to determine which of these angels was most loyal to God by not prostrating themselves to someone other than their Creator.

This belief has been linked by some people to Islamic revelation on Iblis, who also refused to prostrate to Adam, despite God's express command. This similarity to the Islamic tradition of Iblis, some followers of identify the 🦚 Angel with their own unredeemed evil spirit Satan.

Yazidis believe Tawûsê Melek is not a source of wickedness. He's considered the leader of Archangels, not a fallen angel. The Yazidis believe that Tawûsê Melek is the representative of God on the face of the Earth & comes down to the Earth on the 1st Wednesday of Nisan (April).

The seven angels are sometimes referred to as the Seven Mysteries. In the two Yazidi Holy Books, these angels are Cibrayîl, Ezrayîl, Mîkayîl, Şifqayîl, Derdayîl, Ezafîl & Ezazîl. There is many parallels to Gnosticism. The 🦚 Angel's Sigil is the Same as the Sumerian Anu

Many concepts paralleled in the Book of Enoch as well.

Tawûsê Melek, the Peacock Angel, or to Hindus Murugan-Skanda is seen as the Expositor of Gnosis. His symbol the Vēl Āyudha or Spear of Wisdom & vehicle/totem a Peacock/ Phoenix. Behind Him rises the morning Sun symbolizing the Awakened State, Bodhi, of the Jñāni or Comprehensor.
