Thread: what’s in this year’s Programme for Government ⬇️

We will continue to support and protect our #NHS.

We’re committed to increasing our frontline health spend each year so it is at least £2.5 billion higher by 2026-27.

#ScotPfG

We'll work to improve national wellbeing by increasing direct mental health investment by at least 25% over the lifetime of this parliament.

This year we're providing £120 million additional funding to support the recovery and transformation of mental health services.

#ScotPfG

We will invest £250 million over the next 5 years to tackle the drugs deaths emergency. This will ensure better:

🔹 outreach
🔹 treatment
🔹 rehabilitation
🔹 and aftercare services

in every local authority.

#ScotPfG

We want to achieve the highest standard of support and care for people using adult social care services.

We'll bring forward legislation to establish a National Care Service by June 2022.

🏥 This will be the biggest public service reform since the creation of the NHS.

#ScotPfG

Everyone should feel safe from violence and discrimination.

Starting this year, we will invest £100 million to support frontline services and focus on the prevention of violence against women and girls from school onwards.

#ScotPfG

We're committed to tackling the poverty related attainment gap.

Starting this year, we're going to invest a further £1 billion to help us achieve this.

We will also fund councils to recruit 3,500 additional teachers and 500 classroom assistants.
#ScotPfG

By the end of this Parliament, we will:

🔹 Build a new system of wrap around childcare for school age children

🔹 Begin to expand free early learning and childcare to 1 and 2 year-olds, starting with those in low income households

#ScotPfG

We will continue with our mission to end child poverty by:

🔹 Rolling out the Scottish Child Payment to children under 16 by the end of 2022, and

🔹 Doubling it to £20 per week as quickly as possible thereafter

#ScotPfG

We want to ensure everyone has a safe, warm place to call home.

To help do this, we will:

🔹 Deliver 110,000 affordable homes across Scotland by 2032

🔹 Invest an additional £50 million to tackle homelessness and rough sleeping

#ScotPfG

We’re continuing to invest in green jobs for a sustainable Scotland.

This year we'll:

🔹 Make the first payments from our £100 million Green Jobs Fund

🔹 Implement a skills guarantee to help workers transition to the green jobs of the future

#ScotPfG

We're committed to decarbonising 1 million homes by 2030.

This year, we will:

🔹 Increase funding for home energy programmes and measures to reduce fuel poverty

🔹 Invest £30 million for energy efficiency projects in social housing

#ScotPfG

We will continue to invest in #ActiveTravel and reduce Scotland's carbon footprint.

Building on the pilot work already underway, free bikes will be made available to children whose families cannot afford them.

#ScotPfG

Our Programme for Government 2021-22 outlines how we're working towards:

🔹 A fairer, greener and more prosperous country, and

🔹 A sustainable recovery from the pandemic
