Hello Dumbo,

That is NOT false & misleading. Bhakta Namadeva was indeed a devotee of Vitthala. Nobody denies it. STOP putting words in my mouth. But yes, it is indeed true that Namadeva used "Allah" in his Abhangas as one of the names of Hari. Only an ignoramus will deny this!

Here is Namadeva's Abhanga as recorded in Page 727 of Adigranth

Here, Namadeva uses "Karim", "Rahim" & "Allah" to describe Vishnu.

Anybody with a basic reading of Namadeva's Abhangas know this. Ignorance is one thing. Accusing others on your ignorance is malice @SanskarBarot

@SanskarBarot My problem with this gang:

1) They lack knowledge & haven't read primary sources.

2) They compound their ignorance with conspiracy theories & spend 24*7 slandering others with their fake conspiracy theories.

3) While their own credibility& contribution is 0.
Thoda Sudhar jao

@SanskarBarot I just want to add, lest my words be twisted again:

1) Bhakta Namadeva DID NOT worship Allah of Islam. As narrated in one of the Abhangas, when he was asked to convert to Islam, he refused and was tortured.

2) He was a Vaishnava and used "Allah" just as another name of Vishnu

@SanskarBarot I said what I had to say. I have shown primary evidence for my claim which proves you are wrong.

Now you & other jealous people of your gang can continue b*tching about me, and others, in your stupid group. I presume that is the only thing which gives you a sense of validation!

@SanskarBarot It is said that half knowledge is dangerous. But this is less than half knowledge.

Here are the facts:

The above verse of Adigranth also occurs in Namdev Abhanga of Varakari literature in Marathi with just a a slight variation of words.

@SanskarBarot In Guru Granth Sahib, the verse is ਮੈ ਅੰਧੁਲੇ( मै अंधुले). In Marathi Abhanga, the verse is मन माझें आंधळें.

It is a big misconception that Adi Granth/Guru Granth Sahib is written in Punjabi.

Take this very verse. Here, the Namdev Bani of Guru Granth Sahib uses Marathi आंधळा

@SanskarBarot Namdev Bani of Guru Granth Sahib doesn't use Punjabi अन्ना. It rather uses Marathi आंधळा (both words mean "blind", from sanskrit अन्ध).

Many of the verses from Namdev Bani of Guru Granth Sahib can be found in Namdev Abhangas of Marathi literature with a slight variation words

@SanskarBarot Such comments show nothing but complete ignorance of both Guru Granth Sahib and Abhanga Varkari literature.

@SanskarBarot Some context.

Namdev lived in 14th century. There is no CONTEMPORARY Marathi Manuscript of his Abhangas . Earliest Marathi Manuscripts date from 17th-18th century.

The verses attributed to Namdev as found in Guru Granth Sahib (1604 CE Adigranth) are his earliest attested verses

@SanskarBarot Wrong!

Sant Namdev DID write in Hindi. Namdev's Hindi compositions can be found outside Adigranth. They are found even in Varkari literature of Maharashtra.

Lohia manuscript of Pandharpur (Maharashtra) contains Namdev's songs both in Hindi and Marathi!

@SanskarBarot Namdev's Hindi verses are found even in Maharashtra. Namdev Bani of Guru Granth Sahib cannot be canceled on this basis.

Namdev Bani of GGS contains his earliest attested poems.

They cancel Namdev Bani of GGS out of their personal prejudice. Nothing to do with facts & logic

@SanskarBarot Here is full context.STOP partial quoting Gita to suit your hateful agenda. You are a liar & a fraud.

@SanskarBarot Yesterday,

They all argued that Sant Namdev's verses in Guru Granth Sahib are fake & not written by him. That Namdev never used the word "Allah" & such verses don't occur in Maharastrian Varkari Abhangas.

Wrong! The SAME poem occurs in traditional Maharashtrian Varkari Abhangas

Here is the same "Karim Rahim Allah" poem from Maharashtrian Varkari Abhanga collection of Sant Namdev.

(Abhanga number 2366)

This is from a Varakari Maharastrian manuscript. Varkaris are followers of Sant Namdev and they preserved his poems

Yesterday, some people were passing expert comments that Sant Namdev's verses in Guru Granth Sahib were modified & forged by Sikhs and/or Namdev's North Indian devotees.

If they were really modified , how are they still identical to his verses in the Maharashtrian collection?

Sant Namdev was not the only Varkari saint to use Allah.

Even Sant Tukaram used "Allah" in his Abhangs.

Tukaram sang:

"अल्लाह देवे अल्लाह दिलावे।
अल्लाह दाता अल्लाह खिलावे।"

This song is very popular today among Maharashtrian devotees. Listen in

Tukaram's "अल्लाह देवे अल्लाह दिलावे " verse is the Abhanga number 444 of Tukaram Abhanga collection.

This verse is from Tukaram's Abhanga manuscript that has been preserved by his traditional Varkari followers of his sampradaya

Another Tukaram's Abhanga that mentions Allah

"अल्ला करे सो होय बाबा करतारका चसरताज
गाउ बछरे तिस चलावे यारी बाघो न सात"

I have also attached the English translation of the Abhanga by Dr. Tarachand

I could go on & on. But my point is simple.

Varkari saints like Namdev & Tukaram used "Allah" in their poems. This is undeniable.

But that does not in anyway lessen their great contribution to the rejuvenation of Hindu society. They played a major role in national awakening

That Namdev & Tukaram interiorized the word "Allah" does not make them less Hindu.

In the past, I myself posted several times how Namdev popularized Krishna Bhakti in Islamic age. As traditional story goes, Namdev was even persecuted by Sultan. But he sang glories of Krishna
