sometimes it catches jimin off guard how their soulmatery manifests. it’s often the little things, too—like how easy it is for him to play along when taehyung’s in a roleplaying mood, or how quickly he catches onto whatever new dance move is taehyung’s flavor of the month.
this morning, it’s this realization that tips his world ever so slightly off-balance: kim taehyung is a terrible blanket hog.
he’s always been one, is the thing. for as long as jimin can remember, sharing a bed with taehyung always meant waking up only half-shielded from the cold. he’s never really minded, never thought about it too hard.
except today he wakes up warm despite the fact that his torso fully exposed to the cold air of the room. the blanket the covers his legs is more a formality, his left leg sticking out to one side.
and on his other side, his best friend snores quietly, completely bundled up in their shared sheets. jimin has to supress the unbelievably cheesy wave of affection that washes over him at the sight.
here’s the thing: even here, even like this, he can’t help but feel like they were made for each other. taehyung might be a blanket hog, but jimin doesn’t really need the blanket.
it’s such a tiny, trivial thing, but it hits jimin squarely on the chest: even like this, they fit. even like this, they’re perfect.
(and if he can’t resist the urge to smother his best friend with affection for much longer, and if taehyung wakes up to a soft kiss strategically placed on the tiny mole on his nose, then, well, jimin thinks they fit well that way, too.)
((and if the way taehyung smiles when he opens his eyes and presses his lips to jimin’s in answer is any indication, he thinks the same as jimin.))
