The first NFT on Ethereum was just rediscovered 🤯
✨Terra Nullius✨
Released on August 7th, 2015
OS: opensea.io/collection/ter…
Here is everything you need to know👇
Prior to this rediscovery, Etheria (released in October 2015) was the oldest NFT on Ethereum.

The idea behind Terra Nullius is that you can “claim your spot” on the Ethereum blockchain by uploading a message of your choosing. A post was made on Reddit describing the project 6 years ago.

Terra Nullius predates the ERC-721 standard so doesn’t show up on OS automatically so the devs made a wrapper. The wrapper has a hard-cap of 4,000. DO NOT call the mint function on it anymore! These 4,000 tokens are what show up on OS.

You can still claim as many messages as you would like on the original contract (however they will not show up on OS). There appears to be no supply cap, however, each NFT is indexed with an id starting at 0 and going up.
You can search for messages on the original contract by plugging in their id.

There is no maximum length for a Terra Nullius message. I tested this by spending 1.4Ξ to upload the entire Bitcoin white paper. 😜

Huge shoutout to @StiltTrades for making this incredible find and to @adamamcbride for breaking the story! Adam also has a great writeup on Medium so go check it out 👉 adamamcbride.medium.com/2015-the-first…
