Thread covering our latest podcast discussion on Brentford committing all 10 players at attacking set plays.
What do they know that everyone else (except Midjtylland) doesn't?

Let's start with Midjtylland. This was their claimed performance across 4 seasons starting from their first title win in 14/15.
45% of goals from set plays.
0.75 set play goals per game.
This is what they look like compared to EPL teams in last 5 years.

Midjtylland were (and still are) a petri dish for football analytics. Their in house data is only available to themselves...and Brentford.

Now onto the scenario modelling.

Are these scenarios fanciful or realistic? Only you can decide.
But in our opinion, Brentford are committing all 10 players because they already know the value of what they are doing. Its a pure numbers game and this a genuine competitive edge for them.

And next time someone from Brentford is asked about it, expect them to dodge the Q or downplay it and change topic as quickly as possible.
They do NOT want to talk about their edge.
Anyway, Brentford FC we salute you!
