Although 44% of the population lives within a one-hour walking distance of a public healthcare facility, there are only 400 facilities that are operational, serving a population of 12 million.

#Southsudan ranks 5th in the world's highest maternal mortality (death) rates, one reason being lack of timely access to health services as we see in this video by #unicefssudan. Many causes of disease and death in South Sudan are preventable!

Ajok Bol had her left leg amputated. In the video, little Longar has been suffering from a leg fracture for over a year. We hope he does not lose his leg and gets the opportunity to enjoy the future that awaits him!

All South Sudanese deserve access to quality health care. It is critical that the political leadership allocates equitable and adequate resources in health to ensure Universal Health Coverage!
