Two years and 8 months after 6 airports were awarded to Highest bidder - Adani Airports,
Left leaning Airports Authority Workers Union and Urban naxal newspaper “The Hindu” is trying to create a mountain out of nothing.
Let’s look the sequence of events 👇

In 2018, Government decides to privatise these 6 airports to bring more investments, upgrade facilities and increase traffic

Govt proposed public private partnership model followed for New Delhi and Mumbai airport
Bidder who bids to pay highest “User Fee” wins the deal

Govt received 32 bids, 9 companies participated only GMR and Adani submitted bids for all airports. Out of which Adani’s User Fee payment was highest for all the 6 airports
Airport authority was expected to earn yearly Minimum ₹904cr against current ₹530 cr

Apart from paying “per user fee” adani’s bid included one time upfront payment of ₹2299 crore.
This is to cover the investments made by AAI

Based on the submitted, Adani was declared as winner for all the 6 airports.

Kerala state govt opposed this deal and filed a case in high court. High court rejected the case as there were no evidence to support the claims of the state government 5/n

Kerala govt then again filed a case to suspend this deal in Supreme Court. But Supreme Court declined
Similar case was filed against mangaluru airport and that got rejected as well

Airport privatisation was discussed in parliament and government had given a detailed written response with commercial details

The letter written by airport authority workers union considers just one time upfront amt paid by the winner, deliberately ignoring the yearly minimum amount revenue that govt is going to receive

This is truly the politics of mal intention, mis information and fake narrative
