The Gnostic Sect known as Sethians, Sons of Seth are an Ancient Royal Family & Priesthood who worshipped the Serpent (SerAPIS: Synchronized Osiris-Zues-Apis) as the Giver of Gnosis. The various spellings of the name are Sethites, Setium, Kittim, Chittim, Chethim, Chusus or Heth.

It is said they attributed their Gnosis (Knowledge) to the Founder of their race Seth who was the son of Javan, third son of Adam and Eve and Norea, wife of Noah. He is, also, considered the Messiah to the Jewish people in later Jewish Tradition. Who was Seth?

Seth, the Father & Messiah of the Sehthians, is none other than the Ancient Egyptian Pharaoh Menmaatre Seti I (Greek: Sethos I), Son of Ramesses I, of the New Kingdom 19th Dynasty, Father of the Greatest King of Egypt, Ramesses II (Ramesses the Great), who reigned for 55 Years.

“But I am a Worm (Serpent) and not a man, scorned by everyone, despised by the people.” – Psalm 22:6

The Sethians are the SAME as the Early Jewish Gnostics & the OrPHItes. According to Greek Historian Hippolytus, their teachings were based on the Orphic (Ophite) Mysteries.

According to Diodorus Siculus (who called Seti I, Sesoösis), Seti I conquered the whole world, even Scythia & Ethiopia, divided Egypt into administrative districts or nomes, was a great law-giver, and introduced a caste system into Egypt & the worship of Serapis ('The Serpent').

Philaster's 4th Century CE 'Catalogue of Heresies', has 3 Chapters of Ophites, Cainites & Sethians. They are placed among the Heresies before Christ where he writes on the Sethians, “they not only said that the Christ descended from Seth, but also that he was Seth himself.”.

Seti I's nomen (Throne Title/ Birth Name) was transliterated as "Established is the Justice of Re." His better known nomen is transliterated as "sty mry-n-ptḥ" or Sety Merenptah, "Man of Set, beloved of Ptah".  Seti I is buried at Mortuary Temple of Seti I in Abydos, Egypt.
