A bit more depth & detail for some already announced "headlines" here, with more blogs to come in the coming weeks for some currently unannounced areas.
And, starting tomorrow I'll start posting some QoL & other features that didn't fit into blogs, as is tradition.
Much as some of you have really enjoyed Feature Roulette in the past, it's having a rest this year. Instead, I'll be posting on Twitter all the features you need each day for a healthy diet - 5 a day - until the beta is released (and possibly beyond)
🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
We've added nearly 4000 new team talk & team meeting strings into #FM22 across a wide range of game scenarios including... club rivalries, extra-time, penalties, red cards and much more #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
one example.... 👇
You now have the opportunity to speak to your team after a result, which could be useful if you want to keep or perhaps re-gain momentum after a run of games. Or to praise/criticise your players after a cup tie #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
And now if you tell your team you expect to see them in training in the morning, your backroom will now book that session in... your players can't escape that anymore! #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
If you leave a team talk without speaking to your players, not only will you receive a warning but you'll now have the option to hand over to your assistant.
You'll never accidentally skip a half-time chat again #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
We've also added some mental health information alongside your player's condition ratings. So when you check up on your player's morale ahead of the next match, you can see a detailed breakdown on how they're feeling #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
Adding this one here as I mistakenly didn't put it in the thread earlier...
A new, cleaner way of visualising your tactic. So you can analyse your system's strengths and weaknesses instantly #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
We've added more options to the autosave feature, you can now set your game to save every 30 or 60 real-time minutes, so you never need to lose much progress when the inevitable power cuts hit this winter... (yes, I went there) #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
The comparison graph now reminds you to scout a player further in order to receive full analysis. A quality of life feature that adds further context for our players #FM22Features 🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
Dynamic Rivalries 🎤💧
#FM22features
🍏🍎🍐🍊🍋
At the end of every season, you'll see the top 5 signings in your division in one handy news item. #FM22Features
🫐🥦🍊🍑🍒
We've cleaned up the layout of the welcome meeting pack to make the financial information easier to digest ahead of your new job #FM22Features
Information on current/pending stadium changes are also now included into welcome packs too. Giving you greater context on day one #FM22features
🍑🫐🥬🍉🍏
Something a bit more technical, so no screenshot this time.
We've optimised the skin that comes with the game - this means the game loads a bit faster, is smoother to navigate, saves hard drive space & less to download, so is kinder to the planet. #FM22features
🥦🍋🍐🍒🍊
We've improved the context to the strings featured in team meetings when a manager takes over mid-season. So you can let your players know what you expect during the rest of the campaign #FM22Features
🍋🍐🍑🫐🍊
One for the more technically minded - frame rate locking is back!
#FM22features 🌶️🍒🍊🥭🍌
Each rules page of a league now contains Work Permit information. An easy way of getting clued up before you dive into the transfer market #FM22features 🍊🍑🍐🍋🥦
We've altered the UI on the squad registration screen. A small but neat change to make it clearer who's in and out of the squad #FM22Features 🫑🍑🍎🍌🍋
When you're on the receiving end of a touchline ban you'll get called into the boardroom to discuss things in a new boardroom interaction #FM22features 🫑🍎🍌🍊🍒
Dynamic
youth
ratings
A HUGE change for long-term saves as the quality of youth players coming through in different nations will now change depending on that nation's standing in the world of football. #FM22features 🍌🫐🍒🍏🥭
See you all at the live stream 7pm BST.
Appropriate to announce whilst I'm on my way to a match - When you're given a pre-matchday preview by your staff, you'll be told which game you should keep a close eye on featuring teams you're neck and neck with in the table #FM22Features 🍑🍋🍏🫐🍒
In leagues where squad numbers aren't assigned to players but just use shirts 1-11 each game, you now don't have to give them squad numbers. Prevalent in Wales, Holland, some of Scotland and more #FM22Features 🍷🍷🍷🍷🍷
Each glass of wine counts as one of your 5 a day, right?
Improved career paths for managers, so those in real life who have declared that they aren't interested in club jobs and only want to manage national teams, and vice versa, can now be supported. #FM22features 🍒🍏🍋🍑🍊
When you're given a pre-matchday preview by your staff, you'll be told which game you should keep a close eye on featuring teams you're neck and neck with in the table #FM22Features 🥭🍐🍒🫐🍑
The media source code has been refactored, so you'll see more appropriate media asking you questions both in and out of press conferences, to further enhance the suspension of disbelief when you escape into a career game. #FM22Features 🍏🥭🍌🥦🍐
In a job interview, as a manager starting their managerial journey, you're now able to ask for support in gaining coaching badges if you're successful and land the job #FM22Features 🥭🫐🍑🍋🍎
There are actually lots of new interactions possible in job interviews - including being able to change staff budgets. And lots of changes to how staff budgets work too including changes in newgen staff, staff movement, responsibilities, board requests & lots more. #FM22features
We've tweaked the staff responsibilities screen to make it easier to understand and delegate #FM22features 🍑🥦🌶️🍒🍎
We've added the ability to get a suggested squad as the manager of a national youth team #FM22Features 🥕🌽🥬🫑🌶️
We've tweaked the Potential Ability tooltip on each player's profile to give all managers, particuarly new, a better understanding of what it means #FM22Features
🍋🫐🍒🍎🍏
Today's 5 a day is all about attention to detail. So will be text based, rather than screenshot based, and will be more general, rather than direct examples🍑🍒🫐🍎🍋
As we do every year, we've updated the rules across all leagues, but have also added a bunch of new rules & structures to lots of leagues, including, but no way limited to, France, MLS, A-League, China, Germany, Mexico, Peru, Scotland & Belgium #FM22features 🍑🍏🥦🍎🍋
As a little added bonus, outside of the normal 5 a day, here are a couple more screenshots showing off some of the changes to other screens in staff responsibilities. #FM22features
please note re rule groups - that's all I'm going to say about it. You'll find out the rest for yourself when the game is out.
So please don't be offended if I don't respond to the dozens of "what about this rule?" tweets.
I am not a wedding DJ. I don't do requests 🤣😉
We've also updated VAR rules to keep up with real life, including the different ways it works in England's oldest cup competition, for example... #FM22Features 🍎🍒🫐🍋🍐
A little thing, but one that really shows the attention to detail we try to have in our games, #FM22 has new animation cut scenes for intra squad friendlies with the players warming up more casually & getting advice as a group. #FM22features 🍎🫐🌽🥭🍐
Again - attention to detail. You'll now even notice new contextual content in press conferences, news items and team talks around playing the same team twice in quick succession, for example. #FM22Features 🍎🥬🥭🍑🍟
One of the driving points of FM is that you can escape into a different world, and that's why attention to detail & suspension of disbelief are so important to what we do - anything that breaks immersion takes you out of that world.
To keep that suspension of disbelief, a manager will now no longer be appointed on a matchday for their new club... because it's just strange when it happens dealing with non-match day things on match day. #FM22Features 🍑🫐🍌🍉🍓
There's lots of variation and new questions in press conferences.
For example - for those who think referees are against you, you can now discuss perceived referee bias in press conferences. But be careful. You don't want to get a touchline ban... #FM22features 🍎🥭🍑🍒🍏
When receiving an award, your board may decide to publicly comment on it to add further context surrounding your achievement. All managers love recognition, right? #FM22Features 🍑🥭🍎🍐🥦
You’ll now be able to track any assurances made to another manager via the promises tab, so you can avoid awkward conversations later in the season #FM22Features 🥭🍒🍐🫐🍋
A personal bug bear of mine in FM is the lack of confirmation when a club takeover has happened or the chairperson changes. Something that's slipped off the list for a long time. Not this year. #FM22features 🍑🍎🍏🫐🍋
We mentioned this on the live stream, but here's some more info....
FM22 has more variety in some of the manager environments, including more "objects" in the scene. Here's a pre-match and post-match dressing room for you to play spot the difference :) #FM22features 🥭🫒🥕🥬🥞
Today's 5 a day is a bit different to normal
I want to show off some of the nice graphical details in the match engine, but that means showing things outside of how the match normally looks to you as it requires internal tools to show off
So think of it as an experiment :)
As you hopefully all know, equality is something that is very important for us a studio.
To join our rainbow flags in stadium, we also now have rainbow armbands & rainbow corner flags. #FM22features 🥭🍒🍑🍎🍏
With some injuries, players are still able to play - particularly if those injuries are arm based, rather than leg based.
So to indicate that, we have new protective gear in game to differentiate if a player does have an arm injury.
#FM22features 🥕🍐🫐🍑🍒
New supporter banners feature in stadiums too - here's an example from a licensed club, and one we are proud to have the longest partnership in English football with, @AFCWimbledon #FM22features 🫐🍑🍋🥭🍏
Lovely looking new boots - both male and female. And some little hints towards some stuff you'll see in a blog regarding manager creation in the coming days... #FM22features 🥬🍅🥦🫑🫒
Hairs today, more, umm, when the character creation blog is released and when the beta is released. Hopefully you can already see lots more variation in here for both male and female hairs, but if you look at the scroll bars those indicate lots more too. #FM22features 🍎🍒🫐🍅🥭
More news on new press conference questions - you'll now get questions in press conferences about awards, when appropriate #FM22Features 🍅🍏🍑🍎🥭
I love a bosman, me. And in FM22, your supporters react to them to in various ways via the social feed - one of many new social media reactions/variations #FM22Features 🥦🫑🫒🥬🥕
A lovely little touch this one to make what has been a dull news item more interesting. You’ll now be provided more information about stadiums, and more, in some cup final news items #FM22Features 🥭🍅🫐🍐🍋
Securing the right loan move for your young stars is always a priority. You can now accept or reject multiple offers based on the playing time offered by a club in one easy push of a button #FM22Features 🍔🍟🐔🥧🫐
Not really 5-a-day in the icons. But is what I had for lunch. Nom nom nom.
A small, but beautiful, suspension of disbelief improvement - the game will now deal better with press questions & histories should a manager take over during the season, referring to improvements (or the opposite) in league position since they joined. #FM22features 🍎🍒🥭🫐🍋
