‘Archie’ has made the top 10 list of baby names for the first time as new parents seek inspiration from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
📈There were 2,944 babies named Archie in 2020, up from 2,544 in 2019
Pop culture has seemingly inspired some rapid risers.
📺Otis and Maeve, the two main leads in Netflix's hit Sex Education, have both jumped by 28 and 124 places in one year
📈Since 2010, Ivy has risen 221 places to become the 6th most popular girls name in England and Wales in 2020.
Ivy and Rosie both appeared in the top 10 girls' names for the first time, knocking off Grace and Freya from the top 10 list
❌Meanwhile, the name Karen saw a further slip out of favour as parents aim to avoid the negative stereotypes associated with the name.
In 2020, it ranked 1,773rd in England and Wales, down from 670th place a decade ago
❓And what about public figures who failed to make an impact?
After a tough year of rolling lockdowns, Boris was given to just 39 boys last year, with the name slipping to 798th place.
📉But the PM can take some solace in the fact that just 15 babies were named Keir
