Japan has given us so many great things. One of the greatest is the annual "Mundane Halloween" contest run by website @dailyportalz, as well as people who submit their own on twitter.
The point is to dress up as something super ordinary.
Here are some of my favorites this year!
"Person waiting in line to have their carry-on baggage inspected before an international flight"
"Person who dropped her ice cream"
"Guy who is able to measure 169 centimeters tall by moussing up his hair and lifting up his heels"
"Person who paid for karaoke in order to practice her instrument in a soundproof room"
"That thing in the park"
"A slab of concrete with cat footprints on it"
"Person who briefly mistook a plastic bag for a cat"
"Man who will definitely be photoshopped out of this photo"
"Person who leans when turning around a curve in Mario Kart"
"Neighbor of the suspect in a police drama who says 'I haven't seen them at all for about three days now'"
"Man who forgot he had his mask on and tried to take a sip of coffee"
"Cashier who politely looks away as you enter your credit card pin"
"Person who started decluttering but wound up on her phone"
"Random ancient video footage accompanying a karakoke song which has nothing to do with the lyrics"
(lyrics read: "I already hate you. I'm so tired of you.")
Love the incredibly specific backstory here:
"Woman who has straight bangs and three children at home including twins who used money she has been saving ever since she was young to open a hole-in-the-wall cafe where she sells her home-roasted coffee"
