THREAD - The over rated rebuild of of Manchester United from Solskjaer.

#MUFC #GGMU

Ole has spent a staggering £441 million on players.

Only 2 of these have been midfield players. Bruno is being used as a 10 and VDB can’t get a sniff and has been used in central midfield in cup games.

The midfield is the obvious standout for failure to rebuild.

Fred - Not Good Enough
McTominay - Not Good Enough
Pereria - Not good enough
Matic - 33 years of age
Pogba - Probably going to leave
Lingard - Surplus to requirement
VDB - Probably wants to leave
Bruno - Staying

Providing VDB doesn’t leave that’s at least 3 midfield players we’re going to need there to compete at the highest level for rotation and depth. All whilst trying to move some players on.

How much are those midfielders going to cost? At least another £100 million.

Our defence is under huge scrutiny at the moment. Ole has spent a huge amount of money on our defence.

Maguire - £80 Million
AWB - £50 Million
Varane - £35 Million
Telles - £15 Million

Total - £180 Million

The only player of those 4 in my opinion of real top level quality is Varane.

Maguire even when in form makes too many mistakes.

AWB noticeably is a 1v1 duel player that has bad positioning and defensive awareness, also he can’t attack.

Telles hardly plays.

Then we have:

Phil Jones - Never fit, not good enough
Tuanzebe - Not good enough
Lindelof - Useful squad player
Bailly - Hardly fit, form is to up and down
Williams - Not good enough
Shaw - Amazing when in form
Dalot - Hardly Plays

So most of our defenders aren’t ever fit and most aren’t good enough. This is now impacting Maguire and Shaw who are playing through injuries.

Lindelof also has a repeated back injury he plays through.

Goalkeepers.

I love De Gea but noticeably he doesn’t suit a team that plays with a high line and struggles in the air.

Henderson does but he’s no where near as good as a shot stopper as De Gea.

Attack.

Ronaldo will be gone after next season, maybe even before if we don’t finish within the top 4 this season.

Rashford and Greenwood. Forwards playing out wide who don’t defend like a natural winger should or feed the No 9 like a natural winger should. Both don’t have the highest of IQ. Great assets to the squad for goal scoring.

Martial is on really high wages so very difficult to move on. A great option for United to have for the wing and at No 9. But is he the answer for us in the future as our No 9? Probably not.

Cavani won’t be here longer than another season. Great in his time here and everything you’d want as a No 9 if we played with natural wingers who’d feed the No 9.

Sancho. £75 Million. Doesn’t suit anything Ole was trying to implement. A 1 touch, 1-2 player relying on movement, triangles, overlaps, passing within the lines. Ole doesn’t know how to use him.

Similarly with VDB.

It begs the question who scouted Sancho and VDB?

Why did their agents not do their due diligence on how United play to make the best move for their client?

Why did we sign Sancho for £75 million and buy Diallo and Pellistri the window before when a midfielder was a pressing priority from fans and pundits?

Diallo looks an incredible talent.

So what do Manchester United need to compete?

The obvious answer is midfield. Declan Rice is the fan/media favourite. He’s English so will cost at least £60 million, he’s recently been quoted as £100 million by West Ham.

We could dip in to the cheaper avenue and broaden are horizon to Ligue 1 and look at Bruno Guimarães.

Bissouma is on our doorstep.

Transfer Market values both players combined at less than £50 million.

Alternatively do we invest in a Deep Lying Playmaker closer to home. Galbraith, currently on loan at Doncaster, way below his level. Without disrespecting Doncaster.

Right Back would then be my next priority. Laird has all the attributes to be a top modern day fullback and is having an impressive loan at Swansea.

He also has 4 assist in 16 games.

If Ole stays. He HAS to start rotating the squad. To keep everyone fit for as long as possible and to improve the morale so players don’t want to leave.

Especially players who don’t suit certain opposition.

Example - AWB, Greenwood, Rashford against low blocks.

Also please remember. “Over rated” doesn’t mean I DO NOT rate anything Ole hasn’t done. I just think it’s OVER RATED.
